Daniel Farke On Why He Will Field A Full Strength Team Against West Ham: Is He Gambling With Leeds United Survival?

Daniel Farke, the 49-year-old German manager of Leeds United, has made his intentions clear ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham United at the London Stadium. Speaking at a press conference, Farke confirmed he intends to select a strong starting eleven. He argued that since the next Premier League fixture doesn’t arrive for another eight days, there is no logical reason to rest key players.

He stressed that footballers need rhythm and sharpness. Leaving them idle ahead of a cup tie of this magnitude simply does not serve the team. He acknowledged that he would protect anyone carrying a physical risk, but beyond that precaution, his message was firm that Leeds United would go to East London to compete at full strength.

"In terms of intentions, willpower, work rate, our performance was good but there were a lot of moments where we should have been better. Both in attacking moments, leading to attacks, but also there were moments to score goals we didn't take but there were moments we lost the ball in critical places where we have to be better.

Rangers put pressure on their title rivals by moving top of the Scottish Premiership for the first time in more than two years with a patchy 4-2 win over Dundee United at Ibrox.

Team News: Four Changes For Dundee United At Ibrox

DANNY Röhl has named his Rangers team for this afternoon’s Scottish Premiership match at home to Dundee United.

From the last outing before the international break, there are four changes to the line-up. Dujon Sterling, John Souttar, Jayden Meghoma and Andreas Skov Olsen come in as Tuur Rommens misses out on the matchday squad through injury, with James Tavernier, Emmanuel Fernandez and Youssef Chermiti named on the bench.

That means Rangers start with Jack Butland in goal behind a back four of Dujon Sterling, John Souttar, Nasser Djiga and Jayden Meghoma.

Nico Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani are once again in midfield, while Thelo Aasgaard, Andreas Skov Olsen, Mikey Moore and Ryan Naderi complete the line-up.

Skinner urges Man Utd players to write history in 'magic' Champions League tie

Marc Skinner expects both Manchester United and Bayern Munich to create "magic moments" in their Women's Champions League quarter-final tie, but he hopes his side can come out on top to make further history for the club.

United will welcome the German champions to Old Trafford for the first leg on Wednesday, before the teams do battle again in Munich a week later.

This is the Red Devils' debut season in the Champions League proper, having gone out in the qualifiers last term, and they have taken to the competition brilliantly.

United have kept the most clean sheets in the Women's Champions League this season (five), and could become the first English team to win four matches in a row to nil in the competition since Chelsea in March 2019 (five).

Sheffield United 1-2 Wrexham: Red Dragons earn comeback win over Blades

Sheffield United hosted Wrexham in a league fixture for the first time since October 1982

Wrexham came from behind to earn a crucial victory over Sheffield United to maintain their push for a top six spot in the Championship.

Having been wasteful in the first-half, the Blades went in front shortly after the restart as Andre Brooks lashed into the net from close range.

But former Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass levelled five minutes later with his 11th goal of the campaign across all competitions.

And Sam Smith headed home the winner 12 minutes from time to ensure Phil Parkinson's men – who remain seventh – stay level on points with sixth-place Southampton.

Preview: Sheffield United vs Wrexham – prediction, team news, lineups

Aiming to bounce back to winning ways and return to the top six in the Championship table, Wrexham will travel to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United on Saturday.

The visitors failed to make the most of their game in hand on Tuesday, falling to a defeat to stay outside of the playoff spots on goal difference, while their hosts sit 15th after an away draw last weekend.

Sheffield United head back into action on Saturday aiming to end a three-game winless run in the Championship and break back into the top half.

After 38 games of the season, the Blades find themselves 15th with 50 points on the board having managed 15 victories alongside 18 defeats, after only falling short of a return to the Premier League last time around in the playoff final with their gap to the top six now standing at 10 points.

Wrexham have assembled a 'really good team' – Wilder

Chris Wilder says Phil Parkinson has assembled a "really good team" as his Sheffield United side prepare to face Wrexham this weekend.

The Blades currently sit 15th in the Championship, 10 points adrift of the seventh-placed Red Dragons who are only out of the play-off places on goal difference.

Before the meeting of the sides at Bramall Lane on Saturday (15:00 GMT), Wilder was keen to praise his former Southampton academy team-mate Parkinson for the job he has done since taking charge of Wrexham in 2021.

"No matter what goes on at Wrexham, and there's a lot of noise in terms of the progression of the football club and the story that goes behind everything, but they've still got to win games of football," Wilder said in a press conference.

From Dudley Redhead United junior to Australia’s most capped star: Emily van Egmond makes history

From starting out as a junior at Dudley Redhead United to becoming a record-breaking figure on the international stage, Emily van Egmond’s journey is the stuff of dreams.

Van Egmond, a Northern NSW Football product, officially became the most capped Australian footballer of all time on Tuesday evening, when the Matildas took on China PR in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 semi-final.

Van Egmond became Matilda #172 on March 6 2010, when she took the field against Korea DPR.

She played her first major tournament the following year, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011, where she became the second youngest goalscorer in Women’s World Cup history against Equatorial Guinea.

Van Egmond: Sharing your career with your best mates is special

CommBank Matildas midfielder Emily van Egmond reflected on her special career after becoming the most-capped national team player against China PR on Tuesday evening.

She was speaking after the team’s 2-1 semi-final victory where they secured their place in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ final. Van Egmond came off the bench in the second half to make her 170th appearance for the side.

“A lot of us have grown up together from a young age,” she said.

“What makes this team quite unique is the friendships that we've formed from a young age now, and to be able to share your career with some of your best mates is really special. I couldn't be more proud to become the most capped player alongside this group of girls.”

From father to daughter: the most beautiful Matildas tribute you’ll read to celebrate Australian sporting history

“Come on, dad,” Gary van Egmond recalls his daughter, Emily, saying as a child.

“It was always her saying to me, come and have a kick – I was looking forward to watching sport on Fox Sports or something like that on TV!

“We’d go down to the netball courts and it was a case of, all right, we’ve got to hit the pole.

“And I remember the first time we did it, I think it took us nearly two and a half hours.

In one beautiful anecdote you get a little snapshot of some of the special qualities that have led Emily van Egmond to 169 Matildas caps, on the cusp of standing on her own as the most capped Australian international footballer when the Matildas face China in the Women’s Asian Cup semi final in Perth on Tuesday night.

Why Man United assist king Bruno Fernandes is now priceless after rejecting Saudi transfer

It wasn't long ago that Manchester United had the chance to sell Bruno Fernandes to Al-Hilal and make a sizeable profit, with reports of an offer around €100 million from the Saudi Pro League in June 2025. For a player on the wrong side of 30 years old, that might have been a tempting proposition. But doing so would've effectively meant enacting a full-scale rebuild, because there is no player that can replace Fernandes. It would've taken three marquee signings just to replace what he contributes for the Red Devils in terms of goals, assists and work rate. Some 12 months later, United will only be delighted to have resisted the Arabian riches in favour of keeping him around.

Cheltenham score late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Barrow in League Two

I know you all thought this would be a drab, cagey affair. How wrong we all were.

Oxford had been written off by most people, but they are evolving, that much is clear. They showed a different side to their game than in the previous weeks and months and deserved the win which hauled them out of the drop-zone, for one night at least.

Preston, by contrast, are devolving. The bottom half is calling for a side who looked a solid shout for a play-off berth for pretty much the first five months of the season.

Preston North End vs Oxford United | Match Preview

After earning a crucial victory last time out against West Bromwich Albion, the Yellows head to Preston North End on Friday in search of back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Preston North End will be selling tickets on the day of the game from the away Ticket Office. This is located at the Bill Shankly Kop Stand and opens at 6pm. Both cash and card payments will be accepted.

Despite an outstanding long-range strike from Brian De Keersmaecker when the sides met in December, it was Preston who departed the Kassam Stadium with all three points, courtesy of goals from Jordan Storey and Daniel Jebbison.

Bloomfield 'wants fans to be excited' as key Oxford United players return

Matt Bloomfield wants Oxford United fans to be excited ahead of the Championship run-in.

The U's are looking to build momentum on Friday against Preston North End after beating West Bromwich Albion 2-1 last time out for Bloomfield's first home win in charge.

Clawing themselves back to an achievable three points from safety, the Yellows have a restored belief that they can survive relegation to League One this season.

Results elsewhere did U's a favour last weekend alongside their much-needed win, as all of their relegation-battling rivals were defeated by their opponents, allowing Bloomfield's men to gain ground on their competitors.
