    But, promise is on the way with a possible window lining up Wednesday, April 22 AWST. An XL swell at 15-20' faces will pulse into Margaret River on Tuesday following stormy conditions over Monday, easing to 10-15' and 8-12' faces on Wednesday. Winds wil be the major factor and a chance for event organizers to look at conditions that morning and determine the call leading into Quarterfinals and Finals Day action.

    Search resumes for man missing from cruise liner, after woman from same ship drowns

    The search for a man missing after going overboard from a Carnival cruise ship near Moreton Island on Friday night resumed stretched into a second day at the weekend.

    The man, in his 70s, was a passenger on Carnival Splendor, which was sailing from the island towards Sydney.

    He was reported overboard north-east of Cape Moreton about 10.30pm on Friday, sparking an “intensive air and sea search involving multiple assets”, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

    In an update on Saturday evening, AMSA said it had suspended the search operation.

    The Geelong Football Club has provided a health update ahead of the Cats' Round 3 clash with Adelaide

    The Cats can provide the following GMHBA Health Update ahead of Geelong’s Thursday night blockbuster against Adelaide.

    Patrick Dangerfield will be sidelined for the next 1-2 weeks with a calf injury coming out of the Round 1 clash with the Dockers.

    Geelong Cats EGM Football, Andrew Mackie said, “Pat reported some calf soreness following the match against Fremantle, with subsequent assessment and scans confirming a low grade calf injury. 

    “Given Pat missed our opening round game with a similar complaint, we’ll take a cautious approach and get some loading into his training with his return to play at this stage earmarked for Easter Monday, or the week after.”

They look likely to welcome back off-season recruit James Worpel from a finger infection that kept him out of the clash, which would create a squeeze that could leave the likes of recent debutant Mitch Edwards and Jhye Clark on the fringes. That being said, Patrick Dangerfield is set to miss at least 1-2 weeks after re-aggravating a recent calf injury, the club confirmed. In the reserves’ Round 1 VFL clash, emergency Ollie Henry kicked 5.2 to push for a recall after his axing. He was well-assisted up forward by Jay Polkinghorne (4.6) and Oli Wilthsire (4.1), while George Stevens and Mitch Knevitt were unsurprisingly among the best midfielders with stuffed stat lines to show for it. Polkinghorne post-game showed early signs of overloading to his foot however, which the club will manage with precaution. With the exception of Tyson Stengle (personal reasons/conditioning), the club’s best 30 or so players are all fit and firing in ominous signs for Adelaide this Thursday night.

    Fremantle midfielder Hayden Young has been ruled out of Saturday’s Round 2 clash against Melbourne with a hamstring strain.

    “Hayden reported some awareness against Geelong, but he remained functional and was able to play out the game,” said Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty.

    “With ongoing awareness early in the week, he was sent to scans which have revealed a hamstring strain.

    “While the strain is low-grade, given Hayden’s history, we will gather all the information and assess him functionally over the next week before setting his return to play timeline.”

    Fremantle Dockers star Hayden Young ruled out of Melbourne clash after latest injury blow

    Fremantle star Hayden Young’s soft tissue troubles have continued with a hamstring strain ruling him out of the Dockers’ clash with Melbourne on Saturday night.

    The club revealed on Wednesday afternoon that Young would not take on the Demons in their first game at Optus Stadium for the season after he reported “awareness” in the loss to Geelong at the weekend.

    It is the latest in a series of soft tissue injuries for the 25-year-old, who played only nine games last year because of hamstring trouble, which required surgery in May before a groin injury felled him later in the season.

    Shoulder surgery sidelines gun Swan for bulk of season

    SYDNEY star Errol Gulden will undergo shoulder surgery this week and is set to miss the bulk of the 2026 season in a big blow for the Swans. 

    The club confirmed the gun midfielder will miss four months of football after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the Swans' round one win over Brisbane.

    The 23-year-old will undergo surgery this week, ruling him out until at least July.
