Vape sparks small fire on Virgin flight heading to Melbourne Airport

A Virgin Australia plane has made an urgent landing at Melbourne Airport after a vape sparked a small fire inside the cabin.
The incident unfolded onboard VA328 from Brisbane to Melbourne on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the airline said a vape activated in the cabin as the plane was descending into Melbourne.
The pilots were forced to make a PAN call indicating that it may need assistance.
The plane landed safely and was able to taxi to the terminal with aviation fire and rescue crews following the aircraft as a precaution.

A Virgin Australia flight from Brisbane to Melbourne was met by firefighters after smoke was seen coming from a vape on board.
Flight VA 328 landed safely and all passengers disembarked normally after a vape “activated” in the cabin shortly before landing at about 4pm on Sunday afternoon in Melbourne, Melbourne airport said.
A passenger is understood to have alerted the crew when vapour and smoke was seen coming from the device. The crew then commenced the process of containing the unit.

A vape that caught fire aboard a Virgin Australia aircraft forced the crew to declare an emergency before landing at Melbourne Airport on Sunday afternoon.
Flight VA328, which departed from Brisbane, issued a PAN call – an urgent radio signal – which triggered a response from emergency services in Melbourne.
The airport responded to the PAN call from flight VA328 after a vape activated in the plane’s cabin during descent, Virgin said.
“As a precaution and in accordance with standard procedures, emergency services were placed on standby,” a spokesman for the airport said.
