    Hobart International tennis tournament returns with star power

    Tasmania’s premier tennis tournament is kicking off at Hobart’s Domain Tennis Centre, with organisers expecting more than 17,000 spectators to attend the week-long event.

    The Hobart International, running until 17 January, is Australia’s only all-women’s tennis tournament leading into the Australian Open and features several high-profile international players.

    Tourism Minister Jane Howlett said the tournament showcases elite women’s tennis talent and demonstrates Tasmanians’ enthusiasm for major sporting events.

    “These events provide Tasmanians with the opportunity to access live, elite sporting experiences – events that inspire young athletes and promote health and wellbeing across the community,” Howlett said.

    Tennis Tasmania General Manager Darren Sturgess said ticket sales have surged, particularly after the announcement of Venus Williams and Emma Raducanu in the player lineup.

    Inside Venus Williams and Andrea Preti’s Five-Day Wedding at Home in Palm Beach

    Tennis legend Venus Williams and actor, producer, and model Andrea Preti first met in 2024 during Milan Fashion Week—at an event neither was originally supposed to attend. “We met at the Gucci show,” Venus remembers. “I was in Lake Como on a sisters’ trip when I got an invite at the last minute and decided to go on a whim, and Andrea was tired. Neither of us was planning on being there.”

    After the show, the brand’s former creative director Sabato De Sarno arranged an aperitivo with a group of VIPs upstairs at the venue. “I saw V and wanted to introduce myself,” says Andrea. “She was on the sofa with her friends and family. I told her, ‘You’re so beautiful,’ and then she started speaking with me in Italian. We had a little talk, and I asked if she wanted a drink. I went to the bar to get something, and her sister Lyn came to me and said, ‘Do you mind if we start a WhatsApp conversation? I think my sister likes you.’”

    PALM BEACH, Fla. — Venus Williams and Andrea Preti are married, the tennis great announced Tuesday on social media.

    Williams and Preti became wife and husband over the weekend in Palm Beach, Florida, as part of a five-day celebration.

    After becoming the second-oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match in July, the 45-year-old Williams gave thanks to her fiancé, who was in the stands at the Washington D.C. Open. Preti is a Danish-born Italian model and actor, according to IMDB.

    Williams hadn't played in a tournament in 16 months until entering the event in Washington.

    Venus Williams marries model partner Andrea Preti in five-day Palm Beach wedding

    Venus Williams married her partner, Andrea Preti, for a second time over the weekend, months after they first tied the knot in Italy.

    This time, the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion and her model partner celebrated across five days in Palm Beach, Florida, with their loved ones in attendance.

    Venus, 45, and Andrea, 37, had always wanted to wed in Italy but were not legally able to sign the paperwork there, so instead, they thought a second event was necessary.

    The couple's Italian ceremony took place on September 18, before the legal proceedings – and week-long celebrations – continued in December.

    Five days before their December 21 wedding, the pair were treated to a yacht party by the bride's sister, fellow tennis legend Serena Williams.
