The verdict is in: Tribunal hands down decision to Demons forward

MELBOURNE forward Jacob van Rooyen will miss the next three games after his striking ban was upheld at the Tribunal on Tuesday.

The Demon's swinging arm collected Port Adelaide's Aliir Aliir in the head as he went to spoil a mark late in the second quarter of Melbourne's 76-point on Saturday night.

Aliir hit the ground and did not move for several seconds, before eventually being helped to his feet by trainers and walking from the field. However, he failed his subsequent HIA test and did not return to the field in his 200th game.

Magpies to challenge Frampton ban at the Tribunal

COLLINGWOOD will head to the Tribunal to challenge the one-match ban for rough conduct handed to Billy Frampton.

The defender was charged for a dangerous tackle on North Melbourne's Matt Whitlock during Friday night's clash at Marvel Stadium.

Frampton ran down the Roos forward in the goal square midway through the fourth quarter as the game hung in the balance, with Whitlock appearing to hit his head on the turf in the incident.

Meanwhile, Magpies teammate Jack Crisp escaped not only suspension but any match review penalty after his tackle that left North Melbourne's Tom Blamires concussed.

Lewis Hamilton told secret to launching challenge to Mercedes for F1 title

Lewis Hamilton finds himself in second place in the drivers' championship after six races, with only Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli ahead.

Lewis Hamilton has been told by Jacaeus Villeneuve of the two ways he can expect to be an unlikely contender for the 2026 F1 title.

After six races, Hamilton is second in the drivers' championship on 90 points, his best start to a season since 2021, and the first time he has been this high in the standings since after the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP.

He is 66 points behind runaway Mercedes leader Kimi Antonelli, and now two points ahead of the second Silver Arrow of George Russell, with Ferrari appearing to have the second-best car in F1 amid McLaren and Red Bull's ongoing woes.

Jacques Villeneuve outlines the only thing Lewis Hamilton can ‘rely on’ to make a 2026 F1 title bid

Jacques Villeneuve feels Lewis Hamilton has had some “amazing races” in 2026, but the only thing the Ferrari driver can “rely on” to win the F1 title is out of his control.

Hamilton climbed up to second place in the standings after securing his second P2 finish in a row in Monaco last week, following his earlier P2 result in Canada. But the 41-year-old faces a 66-point deficit to Mercedes rival Andrea Kimi Antonelli after the first six of the 22 rounds.

Securing the silver spoon around the streets of the Principality put Hamilton onto 90 points, while Antonelli boasts 156 after sealing his fifth successive Grand Prix win. Antonelli has set a new record by taking five-straight wins for his first victories and will go for six in Barcelona.

Former England striker Alan Shearer isn't worried about Match of the Day going the same way as Football Focus after the long-running BBC show was cancelled. The broadcaster confirmed the final episode of Football Focus will air this weekend, more than 50 years after it first graced our screens.

The move is part of a series of changes to the BBC's sports coverage which have seen high-profile shows find new homes. England's Six Nations fixtures have moved to ITV while the Boat Race is now shown on Channel 4.

Dan Walker makes BBC return as Alex Scott fights back tears live on air

Dan Walker made a return to the BBC to pay tribute on the final ever Football Focus programme, with the long-standing show set to end at the close of the season.

It was announced in late April that following more than 50 years on air, the television magazine programme would cease broadcasting.

During the opening moments of their broadcast, several presenters from across the years recorded messages, with Walker amongst them.

He left the broadcaster and Football Focus in 2022 to join Channel 5.

Present host Alex Scott was also featured in the package and appeared to be fighting back tears as she sat down for her interview.
