Perth could face the coldest morning of 2026 this week, as residents are warned of heavy rainfall and another dramatic temperature drop.

Sandgropers hoping to enjoy the Anzac Day public holiday on Monday awoke to grey skies and pouring rain caused by a low pressure system moving across the city.

The cold front brought wet conditions to Perth, with weather stations across the metropolitan area recording 4mm of rainfall on Monday morning.

City dwellers weren’t the only ones who copped a drenching, with 11mm of rainfall falling across parts of the Mid West through the morning, according to data from Geraldton Airport’s weather station.

"There is quite a startling contrast between the south and the north on Thursday," she said.
