Premier League standings, weekend schedule as Man City hunts Arsenal

The English Premier League title race is heating up with Arsenal clinging to a five-point lead over Manchester City, which has a game in hand.

Arsenal host London rival Chelsea on Sunday in a showdown that also has implications for the Blues' hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League. Manchester City visits Leeds on Saturday with the ability to apply some major pressure on the Gunners with a win.

Elsewhere in London, Tottenham is just four points off the relegation zone faces a tough test at Craven Cottage against Fulham.

The weekend's action begins on Friday with last-place Wolves hosting Aston Villa, entering the match week in third on 51 points, five behind second-place Manchester City.

Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace: Premier League – as it happened

Maxence Lacroix put Palace ahead before being sent off after conceding the penalty from which Bruno Fernandes equalised, then Benjamin Sesko headed the winner

That means we’re all done, so thanks for your company and comments – sorry I couldn’t use them all – and do join Scott Murray for Arsenal v Chelsea.

Morgan Gibbs-White also scored a lovely goal today, a drive from the edge that looked saveable because it didn’t hit the corner. But then you see it from behind him, and the, er, swazz he imparted was frankly obscene.

If you haven’t done already, make sure you see Iwobi’s brilliant and unique finish for Fulham’s second goal. In a strange way, it reminds me of Ronaldinho’s all-timer at Chelsea in 2005.

Wild Card Weekend Sunday inactives: Bills at Jaguars; 49ers at Eagles; Chargers at Patriots

Niners tight end George Kittle was carted off the field in the second quarter of Sunday's wild-card game against the Eagles after suffering an apparent lower right leg injury.

The Buffalo Bills rallied to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-24, on Sunday to advance to the AFC Divisional Round once again under head coach Sean McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen.

Notre Dame's Marcus Freeman is out of the NFL mix this year after announcing on Dec. 29 that he planned to "run it back" with the Irish in 2026. But that statement hasn't stopped clubs from wish-casting him to the pros.

Browns in reset mode: Here's what we know after ouster of Kevin Stefanski

The "Get Up" crew reacts to the Browns' decision to fire coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons. (2:27)

Less than six months ago, coach Kevin Stefanski had a strong show of support from Cleveland Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam despite the organization attempting to rebound from a 3-14 campaign during the 2024 season.

"We've got to do better. I think we'll know what better looks like," Haslam said.

Ultimately, a 5-12 record in 2025 wasn't better. The Browns on Monday announced the firing of Stefanski, who guided Cleveland the past six seasons and led the franchise to two playoff appearances while also winning two NFL Coach of the Year awards (2020 and 2023). Stefanski leaves Cleveland with a 45-56 regular-season record and a 1-2 record in the postseason.

Who’s to blame for Browns’ latest firestorm? Kevin Stefanski? Andrew Berry? Think bigger — Jimmy Watkins

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Fire the coach. Fire the general manager. FIRE EVERYBODY, as fans like to say.

Browns co-owner Jimmy Haslam has tried every pink slip combination. He’s axed every person within purview of a porous ownership tenure, except for the first person he blamed during his opening statement on Monday.

“… First of all, ownership takes full responsibility for where we are,” Haslam said after firing coach Kevin Stefanski. “To win eight games in two years is horrible – it’s totally unacceptable and it’s not going to continue.”

I’m not convinced, no matter who replaces Stefanski or how well general manager Andrew Berry rebounds from the Deshaun Watson trade. Haslam’s empty promises sound as familiar as Cleveland’s 5-12 record this season. And his latest rendition reminds us that you can pull, yank and rip at the Browns’ issues, but you cannot remove the root.
