    Sua Fa'alogo has been waiting quite a while for his chance to be Melbourne's fullback, but nowhere near as long as Melbourne has been waiting for someone like him. 

    Over their almost 30-year existence, the Storm have never been short of stars, especially at number one.

    It makes Fa'alogo, who starts at the back for Melbourne tomorrow in their season opener against the Eels, the heir to a storied bloodline.

    Wearing the jersey that was first donned by Robbie Ross, then elevated by Billy Slater and recently vacated by Ryan Papenhuyzen — with talents as diverse as Greg Inglis, Cameron Munster and Jahrome Hughes all pulling it on in the spaces between — is a lot to live up to.

    The Commonwealth Bank reportedly suspects around A$1 billion in home loans were obtained fraudulently, including through AI-generated documents. The Australian Financial Review says the bank has reported itself to police and the corporate watchdog to investigate.

    According to sources quoted in the newspaper, Australia’s largest bank discovered the suspected fraud last year, partly thanks to two whistleblowers. After rival bank NAB was allegedly defrauded of around $150 million, the Commonwealth Bank also reportedly began investigating its own loans. Its Australian home loans alone are worth around $634 billion.

    Big four banks find themselves embroiled in loan fraud probe

    Police suspect that just one criminal network has defrauded all four of the country’s major banks by at least $300 million amid growing concerns that the washing of illicit funds through real estate is a systemic problem.

    Westpac and ANZ have reported suspected fraud in their loan books to NSW Police, joining National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank, which have been working to assess the scale of the potential wrongdoing.

    Alexander Zverev pinpoints issues vs Carlos Alcaraz in Australian Open semi-finals

    Alexander Zverev is back in action this week, stepping into the Mexican Open for his first tournament since a tough loss at the Australian Open semi-finals.

    The German fell to Carlos Alcaraz in five sets, coming just short of reaching the final.

    After dropping the first two sets, Zverev battled back to force a fifth and even found himself just one game away from closing out the match.

    But Alcaraz, dealing with cramps earlier on, dug deep to break back and eventually secure his place in history as the youngest player ever to complete the career Grand Slam.

    ABC pulls Australian Story episode, "Nabbed."

    ABC has made a last minute change to Australian Story this evening, pulling an episode “Nabbed,” due to an “editorial issue.”

    An ABC spokesperson told TV Tonight, “There was an editorial issue. No further info at this time sorry.”

    The episode profiles pensioner Ian Williams, a self-confessed “stubborn bugger” who sued NAB over online scamming.

    ABC has also deleted synopsis info from a number of websites and social media.

    When Victorian pensioner Ian Williams lost $1338 in a banking scam, he expected a quick refund and apology. But his bank, a subsidiary of the National Australia Bank, blamed him for the transactions, despite Ian’s dogged detective work producing clear evidence to the contrary.

    Marco Penge, Jacob Bridgeman share Genesis Invitational lead

    LOS ANGELES — Marco Penge and Jacob Bridgeman had superb finishes at Riviera on Friday, each with a 7-under 64 that left them tied for the lead at the Genesis Invitational with Rory McIlroy right on their heels.

    For Scottie Scheffler, the objective was just getting to the weekend. He accomplished that by the smallest of margins, a 7-foot par putt that caught just enough of the lip to swirl in.

    Penge, the leading player from the European tour to secure a PGA Tour card for this year, pulled away with five birdies over his final seven holes and was the first to post at 12-under 130. More remarkable than his score was keeping his mind on golf — his wife is moving into their new home in Florida and expecting their second child next week.

    Why Eric Dane’s wife, Rebecca Gayheart, withdrew divorce filing after actor’s ALS diagnosis

    Rebecca Gayheart withdrew her divorce filing from Eric Dane after the late actor was diagnosed with ALS because she wanted to teach their children to “show up for family.”

    The actress explained her decision on the “Broad Ideas” podcast last November, saying that by calling off their divorce, she hoped to teach their daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, to be there for their family even “when times are at their worst.”

    “We tell them, ‘We show up for people no matter what. He is our family. He is your father,’” Gayheart shared.

    The mom of two also said that throughout Dane’s diagnosis and navigating their relationship, her main focus was on the girls’ well-being and that they felt “taken care of” even though “things are hard and sad and bad.”

    Eric Dane, star of Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, dies aged 53

    Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane has died at age 53, less than a year after revealing he had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

    ALS is the most common form of motor neurone disease (MND), a degenerative disorder that causes progressive paralysis of the muscles.

    Dane is survived by his wife, actor Rebecca Gayheart, and their two teen daughters, Billie Beatrice and Georgia Geraldine. 

    Eric Dane, a US actor who starred in some of the most successful TV series of the past 20 years, has died aged 53.

    The star was best known for his role as Dr Mark Sloan in long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy, and as the patriarch of the Jacobs family in teen hit Euphoria.

    Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane dies at 53 after ALS diagnosis

    Eric Dane, the actor best known for his roles on Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, has died less than a year after revealing he had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was 53.

    Dane starred as family patriarch Cal Jacobs on hit HBO teen drama show Euphoria. Before that, he was perhaps best known as Dr Mark Sloan, or 'Dr McSteamy', on medical drama Grey's Anatomy.

    The California-born actor was diagnosed last year with ALS and spent the last few months raising awareness for the most common form of motor neurone disease (MND).

    "With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS," reads a statement from his family.
