Pies make a statement with rollicking win over Giants

After a fortnight of focus on the Magpies’ forward functionality, those that needed it got a lick of the ice cream in Friday night’s 33-point win over Greater Western Sydney at Marvel Stadium.

Tim Membrey kicked three of his goals four goals in the first quarter. Dan McStay kicked multiple goals for the first time since round 17 last year – the last time Collingwood reached triple figures – on a night Collingwood led from start to finish to win 13.9 (87) to 7.12 (54).

With eight first-choice Giants sidelined due to injury – Tom Green, Josh Kelly, Sam Taylor, Jack Buckley, Brent Daniels, Toby Bedford, Darcy Jones and Aaron Cadman – and the seven youngest players on the ground wearing orange, the Giants rarely threatened the Magpies.

    Team selection: Three GIANT changes

Collingwood has named its team ahead of Friday night’s Round 3 clash with the GWS GIANTS at Marvel Stadium.

The Magpies have made three changes to the team that took on the Adelaide Crows in Round 1.

Captain Darcy Moore and defender Jeremy Howe will make their first appearances of the 2026 season on Friday night after the pair overcame calf injuries.

As announced on Wednesday, ruck Oscar Steene will make his long-awaited AFL debut against the GIANTS.

Hailing from South Australia, the 201cm tall arrived at the Club in the 2022 off-season to trial for a Supplementary Selection Period (SSP) spot for the following season.

Epic debut, ‘different’ Daicos look stuns in Pies blitz… but champ struck down — 3-2-1

It was nearly a perfect night for Collingwood outside of an injury concern to Scott Pendlebury.

Nick Daicos was at his blistering best, Oscar Steene was a standout on debut and Tim Membrey bounced back to form with four goals as the Magpies downed GWS by 33 points at Marvel Stadium.

But Pendlebury’s night came to an abrupt halt in the third quarter due to Achilles tightness, though the Pies champ played down the setback post-match, after Darcy Moore battled his own injury concern in the first half.

How Melbourne ended up with the biggest comedy festival in the world

"We were kids who weren't trying to do or be anything," the Doug Anthony All Stars' Paul McDermott (centre) says. "It was glorious." (ABC Archives)

Paul McDermott doesn't remember a lot from the first Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) 40 years ago, where he performed as part of the now-legendary musical comedy group, the Doug Anthony All Stars.

He has only vague recollections of the troupe's early ad-lib-heavy shows, like "performing in the middle of Victoria Parade, where the trams go through".

But it'd be hard to forget falling backwards onto a beer bottle mid-gig.

McDermott's memories of the first MICF are hazy because "it was a long time ago and [he's] indulged a lot in the intervening years". (ABC Archives)

It’s taken 40 years, but this comedian finally got her shot at the festival big time

Denise Scott is 70, and she’s been telling jokes for a living for longer than she cares to remember. Or can remember, for that matter.

Asked by fellow stand-up Nath Valvo how many times she had performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival as the pair shared hosting duties for the launch of the 40th edition on Monday, she drew a blank.

“I have no idea,” she said. “I don’t remember any of the titles of the shows. Most of the material is gone, never to be seen again. But, you know, that’s what it’s about – it’s about trying, and never ever giving up.”

The 40th anniversary of the comedy festival billed as the biggest in the world has brought back some memories for comedy legend Denise Scott.

While Scott said she can't remember how many shows she's done at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, or what any of them were called, there is one that sticks in her mind.

It's the time her disapproving mother missed seeing her rendition of the Rage Against The Machine's song Killing In The Name, because the staging collapsed.

Q2 Billings Area Weather: A windy and warmer Tuesday

BILLINGS — A warm front will bring a chance of rain across the region Tuesday morning, with a wintry mix or even freezing rain possible in the east. Only minor impacts are expected, but still watch out for slick roads in these areas. Periods of light snowfall in the mountains through Tuesday night.

Prepare for strong winds on Tuesday, with gusts between 55–70 mph (maybe stronger) expected across the western foothills, gusts up to 60 mph north of Yellowstone County, while the rest of the area could feel gusts between 30–50 mph. Snow remaining on the ground may limit the winds a bit due to an inversion with warmer air aloft, though. Periods of strong winds of over 50 mph will continue across the western foothills through Saturday.

Google Maps will depend more heavily on artificial intelligence to help people figure out where they want to go and the best way to get there as part of a major redesign.

The overhaul driven by Google's Gemini technology will introduce two AI features into a digital mapping service used by more than two billion people worldwide.

One tool called Ask Maps will expand upon conversational abilities that Google brought to the service last November, giving suggestions to users looking for things such as nearby places to charge their devices, cafes with short lines or a detailed itinerary for a road trip involving several stops and excursions.

Not content with its sales growth, BYD is now looking to race in F1 alongside Ferrari, Mercedes

Chinese electric-vehicle giant BYD is reportedly exploring an entry into Formula One, a historic move that could potentially expand the grid to 12 teams.

BYD could be the first Chinese team to compete in Formula One, according to a new report, as the electric-vehicle giant has reportedly investigating entry into the top-tier sport.

Bloomberg claims BYD – currently the world’s largest electric-vehicle manufacturer – is evaluating motorsport as a way to accelerate brand recognition as it continues its rapid international expansion, with F1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans under consideration.

It is unclear whether BYD would enter Formula One as the sport's 12th team or acquire an existing outfit.

Chinese manufacturer BYD reportedly considering major motorsport push

BYD or Build Your Dreams as the initials indicate, is the world’s biggest seller of electric vehicles by volume, and its starting to act in a way that reflects its status. BYD is no flash in the pan in Australia, either. New vehicle sales data at the end of the 2025 calendar year indicated that while legacy brand Nissan had exited the top ten, BYD had rocketed into it, sitting in eighth position. Ahead of Isuzu Ute and MG, BYD is hot on the heels of GWM and Mitsubishi, with only the top five in its sights after that.

It’s an impressive ascent for a brand that hasn’t been in Australia for very long – and a sign that its seriousness about this market is very real. In February this year, VFACTS data indicated that BYD was sitting in sixth place, behind stalwart Hyundai in fifth.

Inside golf’s obsession with ‘fifth major’… and $35m Aussie answer to ‘money-driven agenda’

How The Players Championship fits into golf’s calendar sparks an annual debate, and now the players themselves have had their say.

The talk about this week’s tournament at TPC Sawgrass being the men’s game’s ‘fifth major’ went into overdrive last month.

The Players Championship: Matt Fitzpatrick on why winning at Sawgrass would be 'up there'

Fitzpatrick has had two top-10 finishes and three missed cuts in his past five appearances at the Players

The inference in the PGA Tour's tagline for this week's Players Championship at Sawgrass could not be clearer.

A concerted effort continues to be made by the tour to lean into the banner of golf's unofficial 'fifth major' and further amplify its flagship event.

The star-studded field – albeit missing ineligible LIV Golf players – and lucrative prize money underlines the prestige of a tournament set up in 1974 in an attempt by the American-based tour to create its own blue-riband event.

The iconic setting of a course where the jewel of the island 17th hole dazzles in its crown adds to the allure.

Stranger Things Returns With a New Story From Beloved Character

The end of Stranger Things at the start of this year left a Demogorgon-sized hole in our hearts. While we’re all collectively holding our breath for the upcoming animated spin-off, the fandom is still reeling from that ending. From latching onto some of the maddest fan theories I’ve ever seen involving secret government brainwashing subplots, to dissecting every frame of the series finale, one thing is clear. We’re all hungry for more Hawkins.

Well, I’ve got good news, Stranger Things fans! This brand-new Stranger Things adventure is set in the same timeline as the show, and will release 10 March 2026.

Stranger Things Returns Tomorrow With a Brand New Adventure

With Netflix’s flagship sci-fi series now in the rearview, Stranger Things fans have been left in that awkward in-between phase where spin-offs are coming, but not fast enough to scratch the Hawkins itch immediately. The good news is that the franchise is not staying quiet for long. There is a brand-new Stranger Things release arriving tomorrow, March 10.

Dark Horse's Stranger Things Volume 10: Tales from Hawkins 2 comes out tomorrow, March 10, and it takes the full four issue anthology miniseries into one, well-bound volume. The book is written by Derek Fridolfs, with artwork from Sunando C, Bradley Clayton, Mack Chater, and Vincenzo Riccardi. Multiple retailer and catalog listings confirm the creative team, with Fridolfs continuing as the central storytelling voice for this latest Hawkins anthology. It's more of a companion piece to the adventures from Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s, but it seems the perfect treat for those who've been yearning for another hit of the Upside Down.

Stranger Things Returns With a New Story From Beloved Character — Volume 10 Reopens Hawkins

The end of stranger things at the start of this year left a Demogorgon-sized hole for many fans, but the gap narrows this spring: a new trade paperback edition collects an all-new quartet of stories set in Hawkins, due on 10 March 2026. The release promises fresh viewpoints on moments the show touched on and a closer look at scenes that shaped the series’ mythology.

Stranger Things Volume 10: Tales from Hawkins 2 is a trade paperback anthology that gathers a four-issue miniseries into one bound volume. The book is written by Derek Fridolfs, with illustrated contributions from Sunando C, Bradley Clayton, Mack Chater, and Vincenzo Riccardi. The collection includes issues #1–4 of the Tales from Hawkins 2 run and is expected to span roughly 96 pages. The edition is listed at about $20 and will be available at local comic book stores and select online retailers starting 10 March 2026.
