In hardline rhetoric, opposition leader Angus Taylor also says ‘many’ prospective migrants would be a ‘net drain’ on the country

A Coalition government would end Australia’s non-discriminatory immigration program and introduce Trump-style social media vetting for visa applicants, as Angus Taylor accuses Labor of allowing migrants of “subversive intent” into the country.

As the opposition loses support to Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, Taylor says too many people seek to use Australia’s generosity “for self-serving purposes”, promising to speed up rejections of asylum seekers from countries deemed safe to return to.

A coalition government plans to end Australia's non-discriminatory immigration program and introduce social media vetting for visa applicants if it governs again.

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor would also boot migrants that do not exhibit a belief in a "fair go" from the country under a new hardline migration plan he will unveil in a speech on Tuesday.

"We need to put Australian values first and that hasn't been the case in our immigration system in the past and it needs to change," Mr Taylor told ABC Radio on Tuesday.

The federal opposition leader will reveal the first elements of the Coalition's immigration policy during a speech on Tuesday.

Under the plan, Angus Taylor would introduce social media checks on all visa applications.

The Coalition says the announcement is just the first pillar of a wider proposed immigration policy, promising more to come.

Social media screening of visa applicants would be ramped up and migrants who breach Australian values would be deported under a Coalition government proposal.

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor will unveil the first part of his plan for a migration crackdown in a speech to the Menzies Research Centre on Tuesday.

Why 2026 success would mean extra to Hazelwood

TODD Hazelwood’s new privateer effort has gotten off to the perfect start.

After winning the past two Trans Am titles with TFH Racing, Hazelwood has gone out on his own for 2026 with the launch of Todd’s Garage.

New challenge, same result seems to be the theme after Hazelwood roared to the season-opening pole position at Bathurst, a 2m09.9710s putting his Four’N Twenty Mustang almost a half-second clear of nearest threat Nathan Herne.

“I like to do things well, I like to go from top to bottom, no excuses,” he told V8 Sleuth.

“I guess I can only blame myself – if something doesn’t go right or if something falls off the car, that’s on me.

Hazelwood gets pole, big driver change

Things get serious at the Bathurst 6 Hour today with qualifying and also racing in Trans Am, where Todd Hazelwood starts as favourite.

Friday’s most important session was Trans Am qualifying, where Hazelwood enjoyed a perfect start to life at his new team.

Representing his own private Todd’s Garage, the two-time defending champion took pole by a convincing margin of half a second.

His 2:07.9710 was a strong 0.4758s clear of Nathan Herne, while James Golding, James Moffat and Ben Bargwanna were the only other drivers inside the top 10.

In a sign of renewed competitiveness in Trans Am, it was far from an all-Ford affair.

Pie giant to back Todd Hazelwood in Trans Am

The two-time Trans Am champion revealed the new colours at a livery launch party at Easy Times Brewery in Brisbane, just outside the Gabba stadium.

Hazelwood notably parted ways with TFH Racing in the off-season, making the decision to start his own team in a new business venture known as Todd’s Garage.

Synonymous with Australian sport, the new partnership with Todd’s Garage will be the first time the pie brand has featured as a major sponsor in a national motorsport series.

The eye-catching yellow and red livery features several of Hazelwood’s long-time partners amongst new backers.

‘I’m incredibly proud to represent Four’N Twenty on my #1 Mustang for the 2026 Trans Am Series,” said Hazelwood.

‘Would you like me to cry now?’: Louis Theroux on the manosphere, marriage and misunderstandings

He’s television’s most daring documentary-maker, known for asking questions others wouldn’t. But Theroux doesn’t seem to like it when the tables are turned

On the pavement outside the Netflix office, I stand in the rain, confused. Was that interview a little off? Louis Theroux seemed not to like my questions, which were typical interview questions, related to him and his big glossy Netflix debut, Inside the Manosphere. He seemed, I don’t know, prickly? A bit testy? I’m prone to rumination, so perhaps I am overthinking. Because Louis Theroux is a good guy, right? He skewers the bad guys. And yet here I am, baffled. The only thing to do is sit in a cafe and replay the tape.

Did Louis Theroux's manosphere documentary change anyone's mind?

It's a question explored in Louis Theroux's latest documentary, Inside the Manosphere.

Netflix calls it a "no-holds barred" investigation into "a growing ultra-masculine network" – and it's been sparking discussions since its release earlier this week.

Theroux spoke to some of the space's most prominent figures – including UK streamer Harrison Sullivan, aka HS TikkyTokky, who is seen arguing with Theroux over claims he promotes misogynist views.

Some have called the documentary a "shocking" insight into the world of these influencers but others have accused it of failing to shed new light on the phenomenon.

BBC Newsbeat spoke to a group of young men and others who keep track of the online space, including charities that support women, to ask if they thought Theroux's film would have an impact.

These toxic influencers hadn’t heard of Louis Theroux. That was their first mistake

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

Louis Theroux does a thorough job in this feature-length documentary about the extreme edges of online masculinity culture. That is to say, the veteran documentarian weaponises his quizzical eyebrows and uses his apologetic embarrassment as a tool for access, all the while getting at the ugly truths and delusional hunger behind a movement trying to turn the mobile phones of teenage boys and young men into an indoctrination tool and ATM.

It’s both a valuable explainer – this is what “red-pilled” means – and a viable public disinfectant.

A long-time BBC fixture, Theroux uses Netflix’s reach to get access to the comrades and camp followers of Andrew Tate, the first name referenced regarding toxic online misogyny. One of them, Briton Harrison Sullivan, aka HSTikkyTokky, hasn’t heard of Theroux and doesn’t know what to make of this trim, bespectacled 55-year-old with zero game.

Clippers Linked to Shocking Kawhi Leonard Trade With East Contender

The Los Angeles Clippers are facing an uncertain future when it comes to superstar forward Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard has been facing some drama off the court due to an NBA investigation into his contract. However, the Clippers made some moves ahead of the trade deadline this year that could signal a “rebuild” of sorts.

Before the deadline, Los Angeles traded superstar guard James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers. After that move was made, the Clippers also shipped star big man Ivica Zubac out of town to the Indiana Pacers.

In return, Los Angeles received younger talents like Darius Garland and Bennedict Mathurin. There were also draft picks included in those packages as well.

Would Marcos Senesi be a good fit for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona?

The Catalans are one of several clubs being linked with the defender.

Barcelona were linked with Marcos Senesi in the January transfer window and the Bournemouth star’s name has cropped up again ahead of the summer.

Reporter Matteo Moretto says that Barcelona are one of several clubs keen on the defender, who is out of contract at the end of the season and expected to move on from the Premier League side.

“Senesi is performing very well at Bournemouth and there are Premier League teams preparing offers,” he said.

“The team most interested is Tottenham, but there’s Borussia Dortmund and Juventus who are planning to make an offer. Barça is also very attentive to the Senesi situation.”

Barcelona accelerate stunning move for leading Bournemouth star wanted by Tottenham

Bournemouth star Marcos Senesi has had his head turned by interest from Barcelona, TEAMtalk understands, despite Tottenham, Everton and several other Premier League sides also being keen on signing him.

The 28‑year‑old is out of contract at the end of the season and has already informed Bournemouth he will not be signing fresh terms at the Vitality Stadium – a decision we exclusively revealed in December.

Since arriving from Feyenoord in 2022, Senesi has been a standout performer on the south coast, and his impending free‑agent status has sparked a scramble for his signature.

A number of Premier League clubs have explored the possibility of keeping him in England.

Sinner cruises in cooler temps to Australian Open quarters

MELBOURNE, Australia — Jannik Sinner might have felt lucky to survive the Australian Open third round, but he rebounded quickly in a 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (2) win Monday over fellow Italian Luciano Darderi to reach the quarterfinals for a ninth consecutive Grand Slam event.

The two-time defending champion struggled with the extreme heat and cramping in his Saturday afternoon win over No. 85-ranked Eliot Spizzirri, and took control only after the roof was closed in the third set.

Sinner later admitted he got a bit lucky with the timing of the extreme heat policy being invoked, leading to an eight-minute break to close the roof. He was also able to refresh in a 10-minute extra cooling break between the third and fourth sets.

The Hurricanes have belted 5-114 in their 10 overs, with the likes of Beau Webster and Nikhil Chaudhary finding the boundary ropes in the first innings, while the second innings has been delayed due to incoming rain.

Webster ended the innings with 47 off 25 while Chaudhary departed for 24 from 11 balls – but it was the Stars’ poor fielding that stole the show.

Melbourne Stars are chasing 115 in 10 overs to win the KFC BBL|15 Knockout as they seek to keep season alive.

Test allrounder Beau Webster hit 47 from 26 balls to lead Hobart Hurricanes to 5-114 from their rain-reduced 10 overs after weather delayed the start of the match by 90 minutes.

Stars' skipper Marcus Stoinis had no hesitation in bowling first when the rain cleared enough to allow play to get underway at 9.05pm, and the decision paid off immediately as Glenn Maxwell had the dangerous Mitch Owen out stumped in the first over.

'Would that give me comfort?' New Aussie drama spotlights organ donation

In Dear Life, Brooke Satchwell stars as Lillian, a 40-something grieving the loss of her fiance. (Supplied: Stan/Jane Zhang)

A few years ago, screenwriter Robyn Butler asked herself a difficult question: What would my life look like if my husband died?

"When you love someone deeply, you have that feeling every now and again. It makes you realise how much they mean to you."

Soon she began to wonder what that life would look like if she didn't have kids. Would it help to donate her husband's organs?

"If I had donated his heart, would that give me comfort knowing that that existed, living, breathing somewhere?" she says.

Dear Life review – Brooke Satchwell hauntingly good in an otherwise clunky drama

Playing a grief-stricken woman who traces the organ recipients of her late fiance, the actor outshines the rest of this cloying Stan series

In Stan’s new six-part drama, Brooke Satchwell delivers a painfully good performance as Lillian, a distraught widow whose centre of gravity – entire footing in the universe, in fact – has been thrown off by the death of her fiance.

You never doubt her anguish, nor that haunted look in her heavy-lidded eyes, pressed down by grief and the unfairness of a world that never follows a just moral rhythm, tossing her around like dust in a draft.
