Jay Williams makes his prediction for the men's NCAA tournament title matchup between UConn and Michigan. (0:53)

INDIANAPOLIS — Who will cut down the nets at Lucas Oil Stadium?

ESPN college basketball reporters Jeff Borzello and Myron Medcalf break down keys for Michigan and UConn in Monday's national championship (8:50 p.m. ET) and make their predictions below.

Anyone who watched Yaxel Lendeborg after he sustained a left MCL sprain and left ankle sprain Saturday could tell that he wasn't 100%. It's unclear how much the All-American, who is expected to play after completing only 14 minutes of action against Arizona, could be limited. Either way, Michigan could use the boost it received from Mara in Lendeborg's limited availability in the semifinal.

What time is UConn vs Michigan in national championship game? How to watch, stream

Michigan and Connecticut will square off for a national championship on Monday, April 6, and both teams have taken much different paths to get here.

The No. 1 seed Wolverines have defeated every opponent by double digits in the NCAA Tournament so far and are coming off a pair of massive wins against No. 6 Tennessee (95-62) and No. 1 Arizona (91-73), handing the Wildcats their worst loss of the season by far.

No. 2 UConn, meanwhile, upset top-seeded Duke in the Elite Eight on a game-winning 3-pointer from Braylon Mullins before turning around and controlling the game against No. 3 Illinois in their 71-62 win. UConn and coach Dan Hurley are going for their third national title in the past four years, as Hurley looks to cement himself as one of the premier coaches in college basketball history.

Michigan students cram in homework before big game in Indianapolis

Indianapolis — Hours before Monday night's NCAA men's basketball championship game and about 270 miles away from campus, University of Michigan students were cramming to finish assignments in the lobby of the team hotel.

Connor Couch, a junior in the university's Ross School of Business, took up a table in the lobby with a posterboard and markers. Although he had several assignments, including the posterboard due the next day, he said there was no way he couldn't be in Indianapolis to watch the basketball team attempt to win their first championship in decades.

"My best friend got free tickets to the game, that's something you can't pass up," he said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime game."

Amy Shark has written songs with some of the biggest names in the biz — Ed Sheeran, Jack Antonoff, and each of the Blink-182 guys, to name just a few — but for her fourth studio album, she decided she’d fly totally solo.

The singer and Australian Idol judge announced this morning that she’ll be releasing a new album, titled Soft Pop, in July — and also released its lead single, “The Biggest Dick”, that she’s been teasing on social media in the past few weeks.

Amy Shark Drops Cheeky New Single 'The Biggest Dick,' Announces New Album 'soft pop'

"It’s the ultimate breakup song," Shark explained. "A little bit sad, a little bit vulnerable, a little bit uplifting, but mainly.. a big F U!"

Amy Shark is back, today dropping her much-teased cheeky new single, The Biggest Dick, and surprise announcing her new album, soft pop.

Shark has been teasing The Biggest Dick on social media, encouraging fans to try and guess the title and sharing snippets of the track.

Described as “the ultimate breakup song,” the confident earworm showcases the singer’s vulnerable side, as well as unveiling the empowering nature of picking yourself back up after a relationship ends.

Amy Shark New Song and Soft Pop: Solo Writing vs Collaborative Past

The amy shark new song “The Biggest Dick” and the full album Soft Pop arrive as one creative statement written largely alone. This piece compares Shark’s solo, apartment-led process for Soft Pop with the multi-writer, multi-studio approach she used on earlier records. The question: does stripping collaboration away produce a narrower, more focused record or simply a different sound?

For Soft Pop, Amy Shark retreated to her apartment and wrote alone for a month, crafting a smaller pool of songs. She completed 15 tracks and ultimately took 11 to the recording studio. She imposed disciplined guidelines — no beats, no old sounds, different guitar and mic tuning — and worked with a single producer, Dann Hume, in a Wales studio. These concrete choices targeted a distinct sonic identity.

Marcus Bontempelli and your club’s big question in the first month of 2026

marcus bontempelli does not appear in the early-season previews and ladder projections provided here, a conspicuous absence that underlines how many individual player narratives remain undefined even as pundits sketch out a full 1-18 ladder for 2026.

The set of previews at hand is heavily tilted toward system-level rules and club-wide uncertainties rather than definitive takes on every marquee player. The commentary supplied emphasises how fragile ladder predictions are — the framers admit that predicting a full ladder is almost always wrong and that even well-ranked predictions can be nudged off by late-season developments.

That framing matters because it leaves room for player-level swings to matter more than many expect. The previews codify two practical rules for ladder forecasting: first, on average there are three changes to the top eight from season to season (and never fewer than two); second, typically at least one team that missed the top eight the year before will climb into the top four. Those systemic patterns create the context in which an individual player’s form or availability can be decisive, yet the material provided here does not include any assessment of marcus bontempelli’s likely impact or status heading into the campaign.

Welcome to predicted ladder season, where everyone is always wrong, including us.

It’s just a matter of how wrong you’ll be. And by following a few rules when sculpting your ladder, so you can get as close to correct as possible.

Your club’s big question in the first month of 2026

Opening Round kicks off on Thursday and the pre-season has provided plenty of answers, but certain questions can't be answered until the real stuff starts.

Zero Hanger has outlined a topic likely to garner plenty of discussion at each club in the first month of the season.

It seems increasingly likely that Lachie McAndrew's height, reach and leap will win him the Crows' starting ruck position over long-time servant and leadership group member Reilly O'Brien. The ruck rule changes have quelled the impact of O'Brien with selection in practice matches indicating that McAndrew will be at the centre stoppage in Round 1. It's a massive show of faith from the Crows to insert a new ruck into a side which should theoretically be contending in 2026 given he is yet to play at AFL level. It will be interesting to watch how he competes and how well he gels with a midfield group that was beaten up last September despite a fine season.
