Woman and child killed in Bruce Highway truck crash

A woman and a young child have been killed in a truck crash on the Bruce Highway north of Rockhampton.

Two trucks collided on the corner of Raspberry Creek Road and Kunwarara Road in the Canoona area at 10:40pm on Wednesday.

The passengers in one of the vehicles, a toddler and a woman in her 20s, died at the scene.

The driver, aged in his 20s, sustained significant life-threatening injuries and was flown to Rockhampton hospital.

The driver of the second truck, a man in his 30s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Rockhampton hospital.

Queensland Fire Department also attended the scene as a fire broke out when the trucks collided.

A motorbike rider is in a “life-threatening” condition after a crash with a truck on the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane.

The accident was near Dohles Rock Road at Murrumba Downs about 5.45am.

A Queensland Traffic spokesperson said road users travelling south should expect long delays.

A spokesperson for the Queensland Ambulance Service said the rider suffered life-threatening injuries but was not taken to hospital.
