ABC presenter Sabra Lane has stepped down from her role as host of flagship current affairs show AM, telling listeners she would return to work next year in a different role.
Lane teased the announcement on Instagram, then revealed her departure at the end of Wednesday’s show, after almost a decade on air and just a year short of the program’s 60th anniversary.
“And now some news from me: it’s time to turn off the early morning alarm. Today’s program is my last hosting, I’m taking a long break over the summer and I’ll be back next year in a different role,” she said. “Thank you, dear listeners, it’s been an absolute privilege.”
