Australian rock legend Angry Anderson dies, aged 79
Rose Tattoo frontman Angry Anderson has died just weeks after being admitted to a hospital in Germany during the Australian rock band's European tour.
The 79-year-old singer spent 50 years in the music industry and also became a television presenter, charity worker and youth advocate.
Rose Tattoo's hits included Bad Boy for Love, Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw and We Can't Be Beaten, while Anderson found solo success with the song Suddenly.

“It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia,” the statement read.
“Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community.
“His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas.

Rock legend Angry Anderson dies at age 79
Rock singer and Rose Tattoo frontman Gary “Angry” Anderson, who has died at the age of 79, had good reason to be angry.
Born into a household riven by violence, to a Mauritian mother and an Anglo-Australian father he later described as “a very explosive person”, from the age of five, young Gary was sexually abused by a friend of the family.
Finding little comfort at home, he turned to a music-playing, hard-living bikie uncle as a role model, and after a stint as a fitter and turner, he made his way to rock ’n’ roll – first with ambitions to be a guitarist, before switching to vocals, which is where he made his indelible mark on the Australian music scene, principally as frontman of Rose Tattoo.
