When Airbus surprised the world by flagging an urgent software fix for thousands of A320 planes in service globally, the order passed through Jetstar’s operations centre, located in an unassuming building in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.

The emergency decision grounded school-leavers and summer holidaymakers flying Jetstar as they arrived at airports for their trips to Queensland, Asia and beyond.

In the Jetstar Operations Control Centre (JOCC), dozens of specialists safely diverted the planes from their normal routes for the needed upgrades. Within hours, Jetstar staff were getting 90 flights up and running again. It was not a simple affair.
