Jason Momoa's Forgotten Werewolf Movie That's "as Unoriginal as Its Title" Is Chewing Up the Free Streaming Chart

Jason Momoa has been part of some big successful movies recently, but just over a decade ago he was part of the cast of a panned werewolf thriller that had critics howling over how bad it was. But as the festive season gets into full swing, apparently there is nothing that Tubi viewers want more than to see a quite bad horror movie that combines the gory werewolf cliché book with a coming-of-age metaphor.

Directed by David Hayter, who is better known as the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid video games and for writing the 2000 Marvel X-Men movie, Wolves sees Cayden Richards (Lucas Till) discovering that his life as an average college student is not what he thought it was when he hurts his girlfriend and kills his parents after transforming into a werewolf. Cayden becomes a drifter and goes on a journey of discovery to find out his past.

Contrary to all sense and reason, Jason Momoa’s long-forgotten werewolf movie Wolves is suddenly back from the dead. According to FlixPatrol, the 2014 horror flick has clawed its way into the Top 10 on Tubi’s free streaming chart. This is happening at the exact moment when Stranger Things, Pluribus, and Heated Rivalry are all fighting for attention elsewhere. And yet, the Tubi crowd has decided that what the festive season really needs is a scrappy, low-budget werewolf movie most people didn’t even know existed.

Jason Momoa Series ‘The Red Road’ Returns to Netflix After Six Year Hiatus

The show has also hit Netflix in international regions for the first time ever.

In a welcome Boxing Day surprise, the gritty SundanceTV (now just AMC) drama The Red Road has made its return to Netflix in the US and in select international regions. As of today, December 26th, both seasons of the Jason Momoa-led thriller are once again available with all 12 episodes back.

The series previously resided on Netflix in various territories (including the US) several years ago before its licensing window expired. Its stint on Netflix US began when the show was first added in 2015 and removed in November 2019. Its return comes as part of an expanded and renewed deal with AMC, struck over the Summer, that brings many of the network’s biggest hits, both old and new, to the streamer in the US and further afield.
