Averillo backs Phins to be up for national challenge
Departing Dolphins utility Jake Averillo is hoping to leave a mark in his final game involved with the club and help spark affiliate team Redcliffe to claim the NRL State Championship.
As this year’s winners of Queensland’s Hostplus Cup, the Redcliffe Dolphins will represent the competition in the annual contest on NRL grand final day, taking on New South Wales The Knock-On Effect Cup winners and perennial powerhouses Penrith.
After sitting on the extended bench for the Dolphins on Friday night in their preliminary final loss against the Roosters, Averillo was a key factor in helping Redcliffe claim their title against minor premiers Sunshine Coast Falcons the next day.
