A-League villain Sam Cosgrove bizarrely threatened to revoke a reporter’s access during a press conference meltdown over questions regarding his controversial red-card suspension loophole.

The 29-year-old Auckland FC striker, who won the Golden Boot last season, lashed out when grilled about utilising a technicality to avoid a ban for a straight red card received against Al Ahli in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

However, a controversial clause allowed him to clear the ban by sitting out of New Zealand National League fixtures with the club’s reserve side against Wellington Olympic and Miramar Rangers.
