Kangaroos player forced to change plans with girlfriend after call from Kevin Walters at World Cup
Kangaroos debutant Ethan Strange has revealed he cut short a holiday in Thailand with his girlfriend after being called up to Kevin Walters' squad at the Rugby League World Cup. The Canberra Raiders five-eighth was initially only named as a 'shadow player' and missed out on the official 23-player squad.
Not expecting to play, Strange booked a holiday to Thailand with his partner Milayna. But when Mitch Moses was ruled out for the rest of the tournament he received a call from Walters.
Strange has been picked on the bench for the Kangaroos' clash with Cook Islands on Saturday after Walters promised him a Test debut if he flew home. "I was in Bang Tao, Phuket with my partner Milayna and we were having a nice little holiday," Strange said on Wednesday after training in Townsville.
