India batter Yashavi Jaiswal could be in hot water after a confrontation during the opening day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Sunday.
Jaiswal, who had struck three fours in the over from Asitha Fernando, was then bowled by a ball that jagged in significantly off the seam. ICC confirm sanctions for Jaiswal and Fernando
India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka bowler Asitha Fernando have been sanctioned by the ICC following their incident on the opening day of the second ICC World Test Championship fixture in Colombo.
Both players were found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).”
As a result, Jaiswal and Fernando were fined 25 per cent of their match fee and were handed one demerit point each.
