Zuhria Al Hattab survived the night the sky fell on her grandmother's house in northern Gaza.

She survived the journey south — hands raised, white flag up — along a corridor the Israeli military had designated a 'safe route', until the bombs started raining again.

"The whole road was blood and martyrs and body parts, severed heads, severed hands," she tells SBS News of the aftermath of Israel's bombardment during the daytime truce.

After fleeing the bombardment of Gaza, 34-year-old teacher Zuhria Al Hattab faces agonizing visa uncertainty within Australia's shrinking humanitarian program.

Having survived the relentless bombardment of northern Gaza and an exhausting escape through Egypt, 34-year-old primary school teacher Zuhria Al Hattab now faces a new, bureaucratic purgatory halfway across the world in Perth, Australia.

Al Hattab is one of roughly 1,700 Palestinians currently holding temporary visas with no guaranteed pathway to permanent residency under Australia's increasingly restricted humanitarian program. Her plight embodies the agonizing uncertainty endured by displaced populations who manage to escape physical conflict only to find themselves trapped in the crosshairs of shifting domestic immigration politics.

Woman who died after rope-jumping instructors failed to attach cord buried in Brazil

A woman has died in what appears to be a tragic extreme sports accident in Brazil.

Three men have been arrested over the incident, in which instructors failed to attach a rope to her before helping her jump from a bridge in São Paulo state.

Footage went viral over the weekend of Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas being carried to the edge of the abandoned bridge before being let go on Saturday. She fell 40m (130ft) and emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police are now investigating whether the men are culpable of homicide with eventual intent – when someone does not have the direct intention but assumes the risk of killing – local news site Globo reports.

Buyer's agency clients urged to proceed days before collapse

David Meehan says he paid Dashdot $23,100 in April, and did not receive the property investment services he was promised.  (ABC News: Daniel Irvine)

Buyer's agency Dashdot, which collapsed in May, has estimated liabilities of $16.6 million but just $71,000 in estimated realisable assets, according to an initial liquidators' notice obtained by ABC News.

The liabilities include $10.6 million in prepaid services or refunds it owes almost 700 customers.

Liquidators are investigating Dashdot's affairs and are expected to release a report to creditors within three months.

Customers were still being encouraged to proceed with Dashdot's property investment services just days before the buyer's agency entered voluntary liquidation, according to emails and messages obtained by ABC News.

Dashdot owed $16.5 million at time of collapse

Property buyers agency Dashdot owed more than $16.5 million at the time of its collapse, with the Australian Taxation Office, Meta, startup lender Mighty Partners, and 695 customers among its creditors.

A preliminary report prepared by Dashdot liquidator Rebecca Gill, of corporate advisory firm Teneo, shines a light on the finances of a startup that abruptly closed its doors late last month.

The report arrives two weeks after co-founder Glenn ‘Goose’ McGrath blamed tough economic conditions, tax reforms designed to make property investment less enticing, and social media marketing costs for the company’s collapse.

Dashdot Pty Ltd — the only corporate entity under the Dashdot banner under voluntary liquidation — owed the tax office nearly $916,000, the report shows.

Deep dive: Inside the unravelling of buyer’s agency Dashdot

One day after the Albanese government handed down sweeping curbs to long existing housing tax concessions, Dashdot founder Glenn ‘Goose’ McGrath moved to reassure his property investor clients. “The plan still works. The maths still works. And we’re still here,” he wrote in a letter dated Wednesday 13 May.

Just two weeks later, the buyers agency — one of Australia’s largest — collapsed into voluntary liquidation. It has left hundreds of customers, who paid tens of thousands of dollars in upfront fees, out of pocket to the tune of millions and searching for answers.

A creditors’ report filed with ASIC last Friday and viewed by Capital Brief shows Dashdot collapsed owing $16.57 million. Stranded customers are cumulatively owed $10.6 million for prepaid services and refunds, venture debt provider Mighty Partners is listed as being owed $1.5 million, while staff are due $1.1 million in employee entitlements.

Dak Prescott on George Pickens, facing Christian Parker's defense, more

FRISCO, Texas – The 2026 season will be the 11th of quarterback Dak Prescott's career with the Dallas Cowboys.

Going into his 11th session of organized team activities, his approach to the work in the offseason hasn't changed from when he arrived in Dallas as a rookie in 2016.

"I'm a big believer in you're getting better or you're getting worse," Prescott said. "When I walk in these doors, anytime I walk in these doors, I'm just trying to be very intentful for anything and everything that I do. Being this far in, obviously leading the other guys, make sure they understand just how valuable these reps are, how valuable it is just us getting to be around each other this time of the year."

Hopeful Update on Cowboys’ George Pickens Minicamp Standoff

Will he or won’t he? As the  Dallas Cowboys prepare for their mandatory minicamp this week at The Star, that’s the major question facing the team and star receiver George Pickens. We know the situation as it stands with Pickens–after a brilliant season in Dallas following his trade from the Steelers, he headed into free agency hopeful of landing a long-term deal with the Cowboys. But the Jerry Jones/Stephen Jones front office shut that down immediately, hitting Pickens with the franchise tag.

Instead of a four-year deal worth $120 million-plus, Pickens was locked into a one-year, $27 million contract. He signed the deal, and though the Cowboys have until July 15 to still tear up the tag contract and give Pickens a contract worthy of the 2025 season he had, he has almost no leverage to force the Joneses to the table.

This player was busted meeting a rival coach. Now he has to show he’s worth the hype

Essendon are trying to persuade their former chief executive Craig Vozzo to come back full-time to the club in an executive head of football role.

Vozzo quit as the club’s chief executive for health and family reasons, with his broader family all based in Adelaide. He never completely left the club, though, staying on in strategic roles, consulting on list management, and researching/benchmarking Essendon against football departments across the competition.

Even when he was CEO he was very much a football CEO, focused on fixing the one part of the club that was plainly in continued distress. The rest of the business was healthy and allowed a CEO with a football background to focus his time there.

AFL takes action after Hardwick's umpire comments

Damien Hardwick got a call from AFL head office on Monday after his comments on Friday night

THE AFL has put Damien Hardwick on notice for his comments relating to umpiring decisions on Friday night, with the League's football boss Greg Swann calling the Suns coach personally to address his post-match outburst.

It is understood Swann rang Hardwick on Monday morning to express his disappointment in the comments, although the Gold Coast coach has not been fined and is not expected to be punished further for his words.

Speaking after the match, Hardwick compared GMHBA Stadium to the Roman Colosseum and suggested that umpires were waiting for a reaction from the crowd before making their decision on several incidents.

“Sooks a lot”: Has Dimma’s whinging filtered to Suns players?

Damien Hardwick should stop pointing the finger and making excuses for Gold Coast’s subpar performances in 2026.

The Suns, who many tipped to contend this year, lost a third game on the trot when beaten by Geelong by 45 points on Friday night.

Hardwick was unhappy with the result but in particular the umpiring as he felt the Cats were the recipients of some questionable free kicks which led to goals.

"I reckon they (the umpires) were waiting for the crowd to do this one (thumb down) then, all of a sudden, free kick.

"At the end of the day it is what it is, home-ground advantage, we understand that, we know you're up against it from the start, but a couple of them weren't there."
