Cerebras sees blockbuster demand, setting stage for US AI IPO frenzy

The chipmaker’s IPO priced at $185, well above its initial range, and opened trading at an eye-popping $350.

Cerebras Systems CBRS, a maker of AI-focused semiconductor chips, rocketed onto Nasdaq Thursday with an opening trade at $350 a share. It closed the day at $311.07, giving it a 68% pop over an IPO price that had already been raised multiple times.

Retail investors’ enthusiasm for Cerebras stock underscores an appetite to embrace AI, even with some significant caveats as the market and technology move deeper into inference, or usage (rather than AI model training).

The Nvidia competitor upsized its offering twice, initially targeting a share price of $115-$125, then $150-$160, and ultimately pricing at $185 a share. At IPO, Cerebras was valued at $56.4 billion, more than double the $23 billion it commanded just three months ago, when it closed a $1 billion funding round.

Cerebras IPO: Here's What a $5,000 Investment Could Look Like in 5 Years

Cerebras Systems is scheduled to hit the Nasdaq on May 14 in the most anticipated IPO of 2026 so far.

The artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure race has produced no shortage of headline-grabbing companies. With its initial public offering (IPO) set for May 14, Cerebras may be the most closely followed infrastructure name at the moment. The chipmaker is known for its Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE) — a single chip designed to handle the computational demands of large language models (LLMs) more efficiently than clusters of traditional GPUs.

This capability has caught the attention of leading AI powerhouses OpenAI and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Back in January, OpenAI signed a multiyear, $10 billion deal with Cerebras to purchase 750 megawatts of compute capacity. More recently, the ChatGPT developer doubled down on this relationship by agreeing to purchase $20 billion worth of the company's chips. Meanwhile, AWS agreed to deploy Cerebras' CS-3 system and Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) networking on Amazon Bedrock.

Jackie Chan to Film ‘Armour of God IV: Ultimatum’ in Kazakhstan (EXCLUSIVE)

Jackie Chan will shoot “Armour of God IV: Ultimatum” in Kazakhstan, the star’s first production in the Central Asian region, Variety has confirmed.

Directed by Robert Kun and produced by Salem Entertainment, the film is scheduled to commence principal photography in July and is targeting a worldwide release in the second quarter of 2027.

Producers Esmond Ren and Igor Tsay are attached to the project, which is backed by Alem Fund, an Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC)-registered fund created to back and raise the international profile of Kazakhstan-linked film and media projects. “Armour of God IV: Ultimatum” is the first title to go into production from the fund’s current portfolio of six projects.

China's martial artist, actor and filmmaker Jackie Chan is set to film “Armour of God IV: Ultimatum” in Kazakhstan, marking the action legend’s first-ever production in Central Asia.

The new installment in the long-running franchise will be directed by Robert Kun and produced by Salem Entertainment, with principal photography scheduled to begin in July. The film is targeting a global release in the second quarter of 2027, The Caspian Post reports via Variety.

Riding a six-game surge, Gauff defeated Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-2 to roll into her second straight Rome final.

The 22-year-old Gauff is the youngest American since her former doubles partner Venus Williams (1998-99) to reach the Rome final in successive seasons.

Reigning Roland Garros champion Gauff will face a former Rome champion—either three-time champion Iga Swiatek or two-time champion Elina Svitolina—in the final. Gauff is 2-3 lifetime vs. Svitolina and 5-11 vs. Swiatek, but she has won their last four meetings in a row.

Nvidia to report Q1 earnings, as chip stocks soar on AI strength

AI heavyweight Nvidia (NVDA) will report its first quarter results on May 20, in what is easily one of the most anticipated announcements of the earnings season.

Nvidia’s results come as CEO Jensen Huang travels to China with President Trump for his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, helping to push the company’s stock to all-time highs and sending its market capitalization to $5.5 trillion.

Investors are watching the action in China to see if Trump and Xi can reach an agreement on shipping Nvidia’s chips to China. Nvidia has said that while the US government has granted the company a license to ship its H200 processors to the country, China hasn’t granted Nvidia an import license.

Nvidia stock hits an all-time high on new AI bullishness from Wall Street analysts

The top US AI chipmaker saw shares surge as much as 3% to a high of $227.84 before paring the gain slightly to close at $225.83. The rally pushed its market capitalization above $5.5 trillion.

Analysts on Wednesday debuted a fresh batch of bullish outlooks for the company as well as the wider AI trade through the rest of this decade. The optimism around Nvidia stock is also building ahead of the company's earnings report on May 20.

Nvidia's fresh record comes as the chipmaker's CEO Jensen Huang joins President Trump in Beijing as part of the US delegation at the US-China summit.

Analysts at Bank of America and Wells Fargo boosted their price targets for the stock ahead of Nvidia's fiscal first quarter results next Wednesday.
