    Ilia Topuria Names Ideal Timeline for Islam Makhachev Superfight

    UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has named his ideal timeline for a superfight against UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev.

    Topuria returns to the Octagon at UFC Freedom 250 in June, when he looks to unify his belt against interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in the main event of the UFC White House card. As for Makhachev, he is currently awaiting his next foe, with Carlos Prates potentially the next in line for a title shot following a vicious TKO win over former champ Jack Della Maddalena at UFC Perth last weekend.

    For Topuria, however, he doesn’t expect to stay at lightweight for long, even if he successfully unifies the belts with Gaethje. He is chasing big fights, and there is no bigger fight right now in the UFC than a matchup between Topuria and Makhachev, the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the sport today.

    Ilia Topuria Wants Islam Makhachev Fight by Year End

    Ilia Topuria was expected to fight Islam Makhachev at welterweight this summer, but negotiation disagreements evaporated the chances. Apparently, it was being discussed to feature the historic UFC White House event on 14th June but injuries and high purse demands caused the super fight to not materialize.

    However, on a brighter note, Topuria reassures that he will try to pursue the fight before the end of 2026.

    As of now, he will be fighting Justin Gaethje at the south lawn in almost one months’ time

    Raiders v Panthers: Strange boosts halves; Henry returns

    After recording a gusty win against Titans last week, the Raiders return home to Canberra to take on the ladder-leading Panthers.

    Jeremy Stephens Not Impressed by Current UFC Bonus Structure

    Jeremy Stephens is not impressed by the new bonus structure the UFC implemented at the beginning of the year. The lightweight that enters the Octagon this weekend for the 36th time in his career told Full Send MMA there is no real improvement with the new bonus structure.

    Stephens is taking on fellow American King Green during the opening fight of the main card of UFC 328 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. On paper, a clash that could end up being the fight of the night.

    Stephens started his UFC career in 2007. Back then, the UFC didn’t have a clothing sponsor like Reebok or Venum, and the fighters were allowed to put their own sponsors on their clothing. Stephens still hopes that it comes back in the future.

The remainder of the card, beginning with the late prelims at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT and the main card at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT, will be exclusive to the Skydance-owned streaming platform.

    NEWARK, N.J. – Something really strange happened to Jim Miller in 2025: He fought only one time.

    At 42, nearly 60 fights into his MMA career, and a record 45 fights in the UFC, the last time Miller fought just one time in a calendar year was 2005. And that one hardly counts – it was his pro debut, and it happened in late November.

    So without question, the lightweight, legendary for his durability, gets a pass for his 2025, which saw him make just one walk for a decision loss to Chase Hooper at UFC 314 in Miami. Miller had won three of four fights prior to that, all by stoppage, and two for bonuses.

    Jim Miller knows he’s getting closer to the end of his career.

    Miller is set to return at UFC 328 on Saturday against Jared Gordon in what should be a fun fight. The veteran hasn’t fought in over a year due to an injury, and his son was diagnosed with cancer, which he beat. Once he was ready to return, Miller was offered Gordon at UFC 328 in Newark, which he was excited about.

    “He’s been around for a bit, and he has some really great fights and performances inside the Octagon. It’s fun to share the Octagon with the guys who have been around for a bit. I’m happy to be standing across from the Octagon from him,” Miller said on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com.

    Guillermo Thomas Silva won stage two of the Giro d’Italia to become the first Uruguayan to win a Grand Tour stage after a dramatic sprint after a crash involving nearly 20 riders disrupted the hilly, rain-soaked 221 km ride from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria.

    The race was temporarily neutralised after the crash around the 198km mark which left several riders injured, and forced the Australian Jay Vine and Norwegian Adne Holter to abandon. The Spaniard Florian Stork finished second and Giulio Ciccone of Italy was third, as the XDS Astana rider Thomas Silva took the pink jersey from the stage one winner, France’s Paul Magnier.

    Giro d'Italia 2026: Adam Yates loses nearly 14 minutes after 30-rider crash

    Britain's Adam Yates lost nearly 14 minutes to rivals on stage two of the Giro d'Italia following a huge crash on a wet descent involving about 30 riders – which saw two of his team-mates hospitalised.

    The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider, 33, is a contender for winning the overall pink jersey, but was bloodied and covered in mud having hit an Armco barrier at speed.

    Yates will be assessed by team medical staff before confirming if he will continue in the race, but his dream of emulating twin brother Simon's phenomenal overall win in this race last year are all but over.

    The 221km stage to Veliko Tarnovo – the second of three being held in Bulgaria as part of the three-week race's Grande Partenza – was won in a sprint from a reduced group by Uruguay's Guillermo Thomas Silva of XDS-Astana, ahead of Germany's Florian Stork of Tudor Pro-cycling and Italy's Giulio Ciccone of Lidl-Trek.

    Challenge Starmer by Monday or I will, Labour MP tells cabinet

    Labour MP Catherine West has said if a cabinet minister does not challenge Sir Keir Starmer as party leader by Monday, she will attempt to trigger a leadership contest herself.

    In an exclusive interview with the BBC, she said her preferred option would be for the cabinet to "reorganise themselves" and put forward their "best communicator" to replace Sir Keir, avoiding a leadership election.

    But speaking after devastating election results for Labour, West said she was putting the cabinet "on notice" and if she did not hear from a leadership hopeful by Monday she would ask Labour MPs to back her to trigger a contest.

    Former Labour minister Catherine West has threatened to challenge the leadership of PM Sir Keir Starmer if he does not step down. 

    West said she would only throw her hat into the ring if no other contenders did so. 

    Despite substantial defeats in local elections across the country, Starmer has said was not "going to walk away from this".
