Rajnath Singh Honours Defence Forces’ Glasgow Medal Heroes

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has praised Indian Defence Forces athletes for their remarkable performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where service personnel contributed 18 of India's 39 medals and produced several historic results across athletics, boxing, judo, weightlifting and para sport.

Singh met members of the Indian Army contingent at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi on August 14, describing their achievements as "extraordinary" and praising the determination required to handle the physical and mental pressure of competing at an international sporting event. The Indian Army finished with 16 medals, including eight gold, seven silver and one bronze, while Indian Navy personnel secured another two silver medals. India's overall Glasgow campaign produced 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals.

The bank made $30 billion in income (i.e. revenue). And turned that into $11 billion in cash profit after tax. It's a very good game to be in.

A bank business model is different obviously to other types of business. They don't buy something, mark it up, and sell it on. Not exactly. Acknowledging that, let's compare CBA to two other Australian giant businesses.

The countryâs biggest mortgage lender, Commonwealth Bank, reported a bumper $11bn full-year cash profit on Wednesday, backed by robust demand for its lending products, especially mortgages.

It has long benefited from surging demand from property investors who took out $45bn worth of loans in the last six months of 2025, and a further $37bn in the first half of this year.

Netflix Release Date For 'Charlie Vs. Chocolate Factory', Cast Joins

The guest list at Willy Wonka’s factory is extending to Nicola Coughlan, Charithra Chandran, Samson Kayo, Christopher Chung, Kate Winslet and Helena Bonham Carter.

These are the latest names to join the voice cast of Netflix‘s Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, alongside previously announced stars Kit Connor as Charlie Paley and Taika Waititi as Willy Wonka.

The new film from Netflix Animation Studios will open wide globally in theaters on Nov. 5, 2027, before arriving on Netflix on Dec. 22. Sony Pictures Entertainment will handle international distribution for the theatrical release.

This is a 47-day theatrical window for the movie, another high mark for the streamer, after announcing the same recently for La Bola Negra. Netflix’s Narnia movie next year will have a 49-day theatrical play. Ted Sarandos had previously committed to a six-week window should the streamer’s deal for WB go through. But it’s now mixing in those lengths on major titles despite missing out on the studio.

Berkshire Hathaway boosts Alphabet to a top three holding, ups Delta and housing bets

Berkshire Hathaway sharply increased its stake in Alphabet in the second quarter, vaulting the Google parent into its three biggest stock holdings. The sprawling conglomerate also added to the size of its investments in Delta Air Lines and various homebuilders.

Is Pokémon GO down? Thousands report ‘network error 2’ amid widespread outages | Hindustan Times

Thousands of players of the wildly popular Pokémon game, Pokémon GO, are reporting network error with the game on Friday evening.

According to Down Detector, a platform that tracks internet outages based on users' reports, showed that over 6000 Pokémon Go players are reporting issues with the app. As of 6:20pm EDT, more than 13,000 are reporting issues with the game.

Most users say that they are getting a "Network Error 2" issue as the servers fails to connect each time they try to launch the game. In fact, on Down Detector, close to 62% of the users said that their game failed to launch. 23% said they could not log in, while about 13% directly reported server issues.

Weather news: El Niño is headed for record-shattering intensity, NOAA says

There is a nearly 70 per cent chance that the building Super El Niño will be the strongest such event on record, according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecast released on Thursday.

Previously, NOAA had been projecting that this event would likely rank “among the largest El Niño events in the historical record”.

The change in the forecast largely stems from how rapidly this El Niño is intensifying, along with computer model guidance nearly unanimously showing it will peak in late fall and early winter at a level that is stronger than previously thought. NOAA’s El Niño intensity records date back to 1950.
