Hunter Schafer Reveals She Had Gender-Affirming Bottom Surgery

“I just had bottom surgery in December, which was amazing, and I love it so much,” Schafer told Elle magazine, referring to the gender-affirming operation that alters a person’s genitals to align with their gender identity.

“For a long time I’ve embraced the gender-expansive part of myself, and I really wanted to try to make that previous body work, because I thought there was something really cool and badass about it,” she said. But, according to Elle, Schafer described “hitting a wall again and again where this theoretical queer utopia didn’t match up with the world she encountered every day, and the way she personally wanted to show up in it.” And so while every trans person is different, a medical transition was the right decision for Schafer.

Legends fume at KO punch after the bell, Aussie dudded in Vegas

Controversy erupted twice on the same boxing card in Las Vegas on Sunday (AEDT) as an Aussie was dudded by judges, before a stunning knockout punch that landed after the final bell of the main event.

Towering southpaw Sebastian Fundora, who famously ended Tim Tszyu’s unbeaten streak in a 2024 bloodbath, defended his WBC super welterweight belt by beating Ermal Hadribeaj.

The 198-centimetre American was easily on top of his opponent and looked certain to win the fight on the scorecards, before one final left hook to the jaw of Hadribeaj knocked the Albanian to the canvas.

‘I would like to see more’: Terence Crawford reacts to Sebastian Fundora’s win

Sebastian Fundora scored a stoppage in the final second of the fight.

Sebastian Fundora came out on top in his title defense this past the weekend against Ermal Hadribeaj, but not all were overly impressed with the performance. Terence Crawford would give his analysis of what he saw in the fight and explains why he believes Fundora is going to have to show improvements if he’s going to take on the other elite fighters at 154.

“I’m a little more disappointed in Hadribeaj corner. Here you have a guy working his butt off, trying to keep this guy off of him, using these tactics, and you see him putting his feet on the ropes trying to get some rest and you still don’t bring the stool in to get this man off his feet. That’s the inexperience that I just didn’t like.

Team Fundora set out one major demand for Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis fight after latest KO win

Sebastian Fundora’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz has insisted that an undisputed clash with Jaron Ennis can only take place under one condition.

The two super-welterweight champions appear to be on a collision course, with Fundora retaining his WBC world title against mandatory challenger Ermal Hadribeaj over the weekend.

It was far from his most comprehensive performance but, even so, the ‘Towering Inferno’ managed to stop his man in the final second of their 12-round encounter.

As for Ennis, a seventh-round stoppage saw him claim the WBO and WBA world titles in June, becoming a two-division unified champion by dethroning Xander Zayas.

It’s time for Dr Chalmers to go. But who comes next?

The only solution is to install a new treasurer who will follow the Keating playbook rather than chasing Wayne Swan’s ponies and rainbows.

In the language of lawyers who write covenants in loan contracts, Jim Chalmers is “but for passage of time” no longer treasurer. It’s not just that he’s doing a bad job, though he is. It’s not just that he has terrible economic instincts, though he does. He’s now embarrassing the government and, much more importantly, the prime minister himself.

With furrowed brows, Anthony Albanese and Jim Chalmers are portrayed as men carrying the world on their shoulders, implying that the Labor Party is about to fracture and implode any day now (“Out of synch?” , October 17). The suggestion is made that the May budget has resulted in unintended inflation. Yet that same budget was deemed by financial institutions to be only mildly inflationary. It turns out that the vast majority of expenditure has emanated from the private sector, dwarfing that which came from the public purse. We are told anecdotally that there is a sense of frustration among Labor MPs. Yes, economic circumstances are tough, but the government chided for not using its big majority to implement bold reform is doing just that. Chalmers is charged as being oversensitive to criticism whenever he makes an evidence-based counterattack against the half-truths, innuendos and questionable assertions made by the opposition and media elements who seek to undermine him. The admission is made that he dragged the prime minister to make Josh Frydenberg’s tax cuts fairer. That was a good thing. The hullabaloo over the trusts issue misses the point that even the small percentage of people with trusts affected have alternative options to resort to. The surcharge/credit card issue could have been handled better, but the agencies that deal with that now have until the end of the financial year to rectify that. Also, bear in mind that Australia is one of only nine countries in the world with a triple-A credit rating with all three credit rating agencies. Frank Carroll, Moorooka (Qld)

In a funk: How economic pain is straining the PM and treasurer’s relationship

Behind closed doors, Labor MPs are questioning whether Jim Chalmers’ relationship with Anthony Albanese has soured.

You've used all of your gift articles. 3 more will become available on the 1st of every month.

Jim Chalmers knows the government is under the pump and he says Labor must up its game to battle inflation, the unintended consequences of its May budget and keep voters’ trust through a painful period of interest rate rises.

While the federal government is not yet in panic mode – and it would still beat the fractured right-wing if an election were held today – Labor MPs returning to Canberra this week described a level of voter frustration they have rarely encountered during Anthony Albanese’s prime ministership.

Apple announces product launch event for Oct. 28. Analysts expect touchscreen laptop

Apple announced a product launch event on Oct. 28, sending invitations on Monday to media and analysts for an "Apple Experience in Los Angeles."

The email says "Pro and tell," suggesting the launch will focus on high-end "Pro" devices with powerful homegrown chips.

Ben Reitzes, an analyst at Melius Research, wrote in a note on Monday that he expects new Macs to be introduced, "including a touchscreen notebook," this fall. He said that for CEO John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook last month, the launch cadence marks a "meaningful shift" from what has been two events a year.

It will be Apple's third launch in Ternus' brief tenure, following an event at company headquarters for new iPhones, including the foldable Duo, and a gathering in New York centered around smart home hubs and a new speaker with a screen called HomeView.

PlayStation founder Ken Kutaragi says discs became "metaphor for 'owning' games", and that upset at their discontinuation is a "mentality issue"

Ken Kutaragi, the founder of PlayStation and architect of the first three PlayStation consoles, has said that people being upset about Sony's discontinuation of game discs is probably a "mentality issue". He understands it, he noted, but that doesn't make it "economically reasonable" for Sony to keep printing them.

Kutaragi was speaking to Video Games Chronicle at the Game Republic New Horizons event, where he said: "I understand that physical discs have become a metaphor for 'owning' games. I really understand that mentality… But nobody thinks [physical media] is necessary for a networked device like a smartphone, for example, because people feel that they will keep their content. So it's a mentality.

Miranda Kerr snubs Victoria’s Secret in milestone year

Former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has snubbed a return to the iconic runway event that made her a household name two decades ago.

This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday, featured some of the biggest names in international modelling, along with pop stars and cultural figures.

However, it did not feature the angelic Aussie mother of four.

Kerr became a Victoria’s Secret angel in 2007, clipping her wings in 2013 to focus on family and then-emerging skincare brand KORA Organics.

Ahead of the latest edition, Kerr, 43, revealed why she chose not to return 20 years after first appearing.

Real reason behind model’s unusual diet

Miranda Kerr has revealed a medical condition is behind her unconventional diet, setting the record straight after sparking debate over eating ‘bison for breakfast’.

Two months after Miranda Kerr sent the internet into a frenzy when she revealed she eats bison instead of egg for breakfast, the Australian supermodel is setting the record straight on the real reason behind her unconventional diet.

In August, Kerr appeared on former US reality star Kristin Cavallari’s podcast, Let’s Be Honest, where she opened up why she chooses to only eat non-mass-produced meats like venison, bison, and lamb and avoids eggs, dairy, wheat and even common vegetables like kale.

Is there a realistic trade that the Milwaukee Bucks could make to improve their roster?

It's going to be a hard challenge for the Milwaukee Bucks to get back to competitive basketball after they traded Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer. They’re banking on players to step up into larger roles so they can compete in a tough Eastern Conference, but their roster on paper might not be enough.

As a result, the Bucks have been exploring possible trades to trim down their roster and hopefully improve it. At the center of Milwaukee’s roster are young talents or players they received from the Miami Heat in the trade that they want to at least want to see play some meaningful basketball before they start exploring trades after they just landed on their new team.

NAB to slash up to 2,500 jobs in massive restructure

National Australia Bank (NAB) plans to make about 6 per cent of its staff redundant by the end of this financial year. (ABC News: Stephen Cavenagh)

NAB has announced plans to cut up to 2,500 jobs, or about 6 per cent of its workforce, this financial year.

NAB chief executive Andrew Irvine said there would be no material impact to customer-facing banking roles.

Up to 1,500 roles will be cut by the end of the year, NAB said. It will book $300 million in restructuring costs.

National Australia Bank says it will cut up to 2,500 jobs, or about 6 per cent of its workforce, by mid-2027.

ASX200 LIVE: ASX to fall; Wall Street lifts on tech rebound

Australian shares opened lower on Tuesday, failing to catch Wall Street’s overnight rebound in chipmakers following last week’s sell-off.

The S&P/ASX 200 Index lost 58.5 points, or 0.66 per cent, to 8787.2 as at 10.05am (AEDT), with all but one of the 11 sectors opening in the red. Technology stocks was the only sector in the green, led higher on improved sentiment around artificial intelligence investment.

Overnight, chip giants climbed 2.8 per cent, pulling the Nasdaq up 1.6 per cent. CoreWeave, which was sold heavily last week, rose 1.6 per cent on a “buy” recommendation from Goldman Sachs. Meta’s earnings report this week will provide the latest gauge of market sentiment on the artificial intelligence trade.

Data center boom puts Republicans in a bind before midterm elections

A year ago, there weren't many voters talking about data centers. Now, the massive facilities being built to satisfy the enormous computing needs of the AI boom have become one of the most explosive issues of the 2026 midterms, and their construction is opening a divide between the Trump administration and Republicans running in state and federal races this fall.

When ChatGPT launched in late 2022, most data centers were being built in blue states. But by 2025, 68% of data centers online were in red states. Now, 75% of data centers under construction and 80% of data centers in the planning stage are in predominantly Republican states, according to new data from Cleanview Research, an independent energy market intelligence company tracking data center development.

Stamp duty is hundreds of years old and removing it could boost home ownership

Researchers have estimated removing stamp duty could increase home purchases by about 100,000 in NSW each year. (ABC News: Steve Keen)

Whether it is bidding at an auction or buying at a private sale, most people purchasing property in Australia will pay one of the world's oldest taxes, stamp duty.

But research suggests shifting away from the more than 300-year-old tax on property transactions could ease housing affordability and help boost economic activity.

Across the country, all jurisdictions have stamp duty, with only the ACT planning to phase the tax out over a 20-year period.

e61 Institute economist Nick Garvin said stamp duty was not a neutral tax because it dis-incentivised people from moving.

Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino defends housing tax changes amid property market downturn | The Issue

Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino has hit out at critics of the government’s housing tax changes, accusing them of exaggerating the property downturn.

Mulino’s comments to 7NEWS come as those looking to buy a home brace for another Reserve Bank decision on interest rates.

“Some of the commentary exaggerates what’s happened to date,” Mulino said.

Yale educated with a PhD in economics, the assistant treasurer spoke with 7NEWS podcast The Issue about Australia’s property market storm in the five months since the government announced its housing tax changes.

“The tax distortions needed to be addressed in addition to building more houses,” he said.

Push for $1,900 annual tax for Aussie homeowners as property market slows

A federal MP has called for Australian states to wean themselves off a reliance of stamp duty as the housing slowdown sees state governments face billions less in revenue to provide services. And the federal government should assist in paving the way for a difficult transition towards an ongoing land tax.

That's the assertion from Independent NSW MP Allegra Spender who is the latest to call for property to be taxed on a more consistent, annual basis rather than a lump sum stamp duty at the point of sale. It comes as stamp duty revenue in her home state has fallen by nearly a quarter in recent months.
