3AW today announced the full-time appointment of recently-retired Geelong AFLW captain, Meg McDonald, who will join the station in 2026 as its new Executive Producer of 3AW Football.

Ex-AFLW captain Meg McDonald takes helm of 3AW’s FOOTBALL coverage

In a move that cements her post-playing career, McDonald will begin the job in the new year, taking over from Luca Gonano following his elevation to 3AW’s Head of News and Sport.

The appointment follows McDonald’s decision to retire after 76 AFLW matches, closing the book on a career in which she captained Geelong for six seasons and became the club’s longest-serving skipper. Her playing achievements include two All-Australian selections and the Geelong Best and Fairest award in 2019.

Beyond football, McDonald has developed her media credentials through her work with Geelong’s communications team, as well as her recent involvement with 3AW across the 2025 AFL and AFLW seasons. She has also contributed to Fox Footy coverage and was nominated for the AFL leadership program, recognition that underlines her off-field standing.

THE organisers of Southend's Lazydays festival have revealed some of their "biggest and boldest line-up yet" with more than 30 names still to announce.

Thousands of revellers from as far as the USA flocked the city's newest festival this summer as it returned to Priory Park for its second year of star-studded performances, craft drink and family fun.

Now, the team behind the smash hit event have announced it will be returning for a third year with even bigger names including rapper Tinie Tempah, rock band Feeder and disco girl group Sister Sledge.

Dubbed "Lazydays Chapter Three", early bird tickets sold out ahead of the line-up even being announced while pre-sale tickets will be released on Thursday morning with demand for 2026 "bigger than ever before".

Rian Johnsonâs delectable new Knives Out film is a chocolate box: mouthwateringly delicious on the first layer and â¦ well, perfectly tasty on the second. Daniel Craig returns as private detective Benoit Blanc, in a slightly more serious mode than before, with not as many droll suthân phrases and quirky faux-naif mannerisms, but rocking a longer hairstyle and handsomely tailored three-piece suit.

Blanc arrives at a Catholic church in upstate New York to investigate the sensational murder of its presiding priest, Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, a ferocious clerical alpha male played by Josh Brolin, thundering his reactionary views from the pulpit. (That âMonsignorâ title can only be bestowed by the pope incidentally: presumably Benedict XVI or John Paul II, not milksop liberals like Francis or Leo XIV.) And prime suspect is the sweet-natured, thoughtful junior priest Father Jud Duplenticy, amusingly played by Josh OâConnor, who was upset by the Monsignorâs heartless attitudes and was caught on video threatening to cut him out of the church like a cancer. Atheist Blanc faces off with the young priest, a worldview culture-clash which leads to an extraordinary encounter with the Resurrection itself.

Wake Up Dead Man review: Benoit Blanc's third Knives Out mystery is engrossing, and very funny

Agatha Christie wrote dozens of Hercule Poirot mysteries. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote over 60 Sherlock Holmes adventures. Rian Johnson, meanwhile, is on only his third Benoit Blanc whodunnit. But give it time. On the strength of Wake Up Dead Man, it feels like he and Daniel Craig’s Blanc could be solving murders for years to come.

Completing an unofficial trilogy, the filmmaker and star have pulled off one of the most consistent and rewarding cinematic triptychs in recent memory, each entry arriving at a singular mood, while maintaining, at its centre, its loquacious recurring hero, the “mere passive obser-vuh of the truth”.

'Pluribus' episode 5: Why is milk so important?

Pluribus has milk on its mind in its fifth episode, fittingly titled, "Got Milk."

The drink takes center stage as Carol (Rhea Seehorn) continues to investigate the Others, who have now abandoned her due to her drugging of Zosia (Karolina Wydra) in episode 4. The isolation is equal parts a curse and a blessing. A curse, because even the world's most miserable woman needs some company (and someone to pick up her trash). A blessing, because now Carol can do her detective work far from the prying eyes of a global hive mind.

Surprisingly, what she finds during her snooping has everything to do with milk. It's the drink of choice of many an unsettling TV and film villain, from A Clockwork Orange's Alex to The Boys' Homelander, so the Others are in good company. Sure, they're nowhere near as violent or depraved as other onscreen milk drinkers, but their takeover of the human race certainly puts them in antagonist territory.

Commuters facing chaos on Sydney rail network after wild weather

Crews are working throughout the night to restore power supply to large parts of Sydney's rail network, with transport authorities not ruling out disruption to services during Thursday morning's rush hour.

Sydney Trains said engineers were on the ground continuing to inspect and rectify damage after severe weather brought down trees onto power lines, impacting energy supply to the network.

As of 10pm AEDT, no trains are running between Blacktown and Mulgrave on the Parramatta to St Marys and Mulgrave to Richmond lines.

The disruptions could continue into Thursday morning's rush hour. (ABC News: Millie Roberts)

Just the two heats for juveniles at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning and we saw winners by first season sire Home Affairs and the reigning champion sire Zoustar.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Home Affairs filly Home Invasion won at the official trials earlier this spring and then finished fifth in the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes behind her stablemate Shiki.

Pakistan news: Former PM Imran Khan killed? Death rumours flood social media; sisters assaulted outside Adiala Jail

Amid Imran Khan’s death rumours flooding social media, his three sisters allegedly suffered a brutal police assault outside Adiala Jail. The ageing sisters of Pakistan’s former prime minister have demanded an impartial probe.

Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan were waiting outside the jail as they had been denied a meeting with Khan for a month. They said they were sitting peacefully when police suddenly attacked them without warning.

They have called the attack “brutal and orchestrated” and was carried out “without provocation”. They have made a formal complaint to Punjab police chief Usman Anwar.

“At the age of 71, I was seized by my hair, thrown violently to the ground, and dragged across the road, sustaining visible injuries,” PTI quoted Noreen Niazi as saying.

Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's three sisters have demanded an impartial probe into the "brutal" police assault on them and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters outside Adiala Jail last week.

Imran Khan, who is also the chief of PTI, has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases.

Khan's sisters – Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan – submitted a formal complaint to Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar against the “brutal assault” of PTI supporters outside the Rawalpindi jail last week, The Dawn reported.

Last week, the three sisters had camped outside Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently imprisoned, along with party supporters, after they were denied a meeting with him for a month.
