BREAKING: NRL set to make huge finals call on Klein after damning Warriors admission

The Knights won a semi-final laced in controversy 12-10 after the Warriors were on the receiving end of three tough calls which are set to prove costly for one of the game’s top whistle-blowers.

In the wake of the contest Code Sports reported projectiles were thrown at referee Ashley Klein and the other officials as they came off the field in ugly scenes.

Now, 9News’ Danny Weidler has revealed that Klein is set to be axed for the preliminary finals after his performance in Newcastle’s victory.

Warriors finals loss: NRL axes top referee Ashley Klein after Eden Park blunder

Top referee Ashley Klein has been dumped for failing to award an escort penalty in the final minute of Sunday’s Eden Park epic.

The NRL conceded the New Zealand Warriors should have been awarded a penalty – and the chance to send their game against Newcastle into extra point – when Tyson Frizell escorted Leka Halasima off the ball.

The Warriors contacted the NRL on Monday morning to discuss a number of contentious calls in their 12-10 loss to Newcastle, particularly why Frizell was not punished for blocking the path of a leaping Halasima.

Ironically, the non-call on Frizell came after the NRL last week sent out a reminder to clubs still in the finals race that referees would clamp down on escorts after the Dolphins accused the Warriors of getting away with the same tactic in week one of the finals.

The NRL integrity unit is investigating the aftermath of Sunday's semifinal in Auckland.

Bottles, cups and rubbish were thrown at referee Ashley Klein as he walked from the field after full-time.

The NRL has launched an investigation into potential breaches of its spectators' code of conduct.

The NRL has threatened to ban spectators who threw projectiles at referee Ashley Klein, with the league's integrity unit investigating the aftermath of Sunday's semifinal in Auckland.

Footage from after full-time in Newcastle's 12-10 win over the Warriors at Eden Park showed a raft of bottles, cups and rubbish being thrown at Klein as he walked from the field.

‘Do you feel like a fraud?’: Albanese stares down brutal question in New York

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has responded coldly after a journalist confronted him over whether he was a “fraud” for receiving a global award despite serious domestic disrepute.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been asked whether he feels like a “fraud” for accepting a global citizen award while facing a dramatic collapse in support at home.

Mr Albanese has travelled to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, and will also receive the Atlantic Council’s Global Citizen Award on the sidelines.

But the looming honour collided with Mr Albanese’s increasingly fraught domestic political position.

“Prime Minister, here in New York on Wednesday night, you will receive an award for being a global citizen,” a journalist asked the PM on Monday (Australian time).

Australians love these cars. Experts have 'real security concerns'

On a narrow country road outside Canberra, I'm driving a BYD Shark 6, the hybrid ute loved by tradies and even a cabinet minister.

But while I'm at the wheel, I'm not the only one in control; a hacker has access to the car.

As the 2.6 tonne ute rounds a bend, he gets to work.

With the stroke of a key, he kills the headlights, plunging me into darkness.

The attack is not a total surprise. The Shark has spent the past two weeks with Dan Hreszczuk, a cybersecurity expert who specialises in cars.

His task was to hack the vehicle and find out what could be seen and done remotely by the Shark's Chinese manufacturer.

Trade Bell: Giants forward attracting Essendon interest

The Trade Bell has sounded with all the latest trade news.

SEN’s Tom Morris has given an update on a number of players as of Saturday the 19th of September.

“One of the players that was waiting on (Toby Greene’s) decision was Jake Riccardi.

“The Giants had pulled back their offer for him, waiting on Greene to see what he was going to do.

“Now that he has made his decision they have circled back with a three-year deal, but he has looked elsewhere in the meantime.

“There is no guarantee that he is going to sign that three-year deal. He might want more money in Victoria – and I think there would be more money in Victoria.

Greater Western Sydney key forward’s likely trade landing spot revealed

Greater Western Sydney key forward Jake Riccardi is likely to nominate Essendon as the club he wants to play for in 2027 and beyond.

The 26-year-old is originally from Victoria and was an Essendon fan growing up.

Riccardi is out of contract at the end of the season and while the Giants have offered a two-three year deal for him to stay, Nine is reporting that he wants to leave.

The motivations for his departure consist of his desire for more opportunities as a primary key forward, while it is almost certain that he would land a more lucrative contract at the Bombers than the Giants.

From Mozart to Madonna, dim sum to doughnuts, Shakespeare to Sartre – not all forms of life need DNA

On Mount Athos, in northern Greece, a monk rises before dawn to sing the same office that has been sung on that mountain for more than 1,000 years. He learned it from older monks who came before him, who learned it in turn in an unbroken chain stretching back to Athanasios the Athonite, in AD963.

Over the centuries, individual monks have come and gone, and yet their chants, prayers, oaths, costumes and ceremonies endure. This persistence is remarkable and revealing: cultural traditions endure because they share a fundamental property with biological organisms. They are alive. Not metaphorically, but literally.

Ed Sheeran Breaks Silence on Israel-Gaza Amid Macklemore Tour Drama

Ed Sheeran took the stage on Saturday night for the first time since Macklemore was removed from his stadium tour following the Seattle rapper’s onstage speech in support of Palestinians. The singer, who did not have any opening acts at the Philadelphia show, addressed the backlash at the top of his set.

I’m not surprised that other people don’t. It’s normal.
