Thanks for joining us, let’s see if Zach Bates can back up his amazing session with pole for Sunday’s race in the top ten shootout tomorrow.

The nine.com.au team will be live blogging tomorrow from 10am AEDT.

Zach Bates has shocked the Supercars paddock with a performance good enough to place him in a club of one.

No champions or much more experienced drivers have been able to punch through the time barrier, but a rookie from Matt Stone Racing did it in Friday’s qualifying session.

Zach Bates has set the fastest ever lap time at Bathurst in the current era of Supercars, topping Friday's qualifying session at Mount Panorama.

Two entrants missed out on qualifying after damage to their cars from crashes earlier on Friday could not be fixed in time for the session.

ABC Sport will have a live blog of the Bathurst 1000 from lights out to the chequered flag on Sunday, October 11.

Zach Bates has dedicated his historic Bathurst lap to his late mother after becoming the first driver in the current era to break the 2:04 barrier at Mount Panorama.

Bates stuns for historic provisional Bathurst pole

Bates becomes the first driver to set a 2:03s in a Gen3 car at Bathurst

Canberra-born rising star Zach Bates has claimed a stunning provisional Boost Mobile Pole for the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000, in one of the more remarkable upsets in Great Race history.

Bates, who entered the weekend 18th in points in his rookie Supercars season with Matt Stone Racing, blazed to the only sub-2:04s lap in the session, becoming the first driver to break into the 2:03 range in the Gen3 era.

Bates' provisional pole time of a 2:03.9376s was just over a tenth of a second clear of Team 18 star Anton De Pasquale, with Erebus Motorsport driver Cooper Murray completing an all-Chevrolet top three.

Perth announced the departure of De Ceglie – former director of news and current affairs at Seven West Media after being editor-in-chief of the West Australian newspaper – in a press release on Friday evening.

Several well-connected sources in recent months said that De Ceglie did not have the support of the board and that his tenure was not sustainable long-term, ahead of the Bears’ entry to the competition in 2027.

'The Whisper Man' Star Robert De Niro Unleashes on Former Prince Andrew Over Epstein Ties and Says He Should Apologize

Few scandals have shaken the British monarchy in recent years like the fallout from the Epstein files. At the center of that storm is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, whose friendship with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein has cost him his royal standing and dominated headlines. Now a Hollywood heavyweight has added his voice.

The consequences for Andrew have been dramatic. The King stripped him of his royal titles late last year, and he later gave up his long lease on Royal Lodge in Windsor, moving to a more modest property on the Sandringham estate. In February, police arrested him on his 66th birthday, making him the most senior royal figure arrested in modern times.

No Ashes yet, but Renshaw sees the bigger picture

How the Queensland opener is viewing a non-selection as a moment that worked in his favour

After several strong summers for Queensland, Matthew Renshaw was distraught to miss out on the Ashes last summer.

It wasn't the first time he'd been on the precipice of selection for a series that would be particularly special to him, given England is the country of his birth.

And in his corner were the likes of Usman Khawaja and Matthew Hayden – just two of the prominent names pushing for a recall for the tall opener, but ultimately that position went to Jake Weatherald.

However, in an unexpected sliding doors moment, Renshaw now sees that missed selection as one of the important moments in his career.

Bathurst shocks again as Golding paces practice

James Golding will enter Boost Mobile Qualifying as the man to beat at the Repco Bathurst 1000, topping Practice 4 at Mount Panorama.

After a chaotic Practice 3, teams made their final preparations for qualifying with 60 minutes of green flag running, however one of the fancied combinations will be in a race against time before qualifying.

The Brodie Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood Ford will undergo a pre-qualifying engine change, the decision costing Kostecki a final qualifying simulation before the 40-minute session on Friday afternoon.

Practice 3 began with news that both Ryan Wood and Rylan Gray would both miss Boost Mobile Qualifying, as Walkinshaw TWG Racing and Dick Johnson Racing got stuck into major rebuilds of the #2 Toyota and #38 Ford.

Ford denies Chevrolet sweep in pre-qualifying hit-out

Golding set his session-best time on his last lap with a 2:04.6490 to lead Matt Stone Racing’s Jack Le Brocq by 0.1123s.

Team 18 driver Anton De Pasquale was third ahead of Jayden Ojeda (PremiAir Racing) and Cooper Murray (Erebus Motorsport).

Chevrolet threatened to sweep the top four until Golding’s last-gasp lap.

Aaron Cameron (Blanchard Racing Team), Zach Bates (Matt Stone Racing), David Reynolds (Team 18), Broc Feeney (Triple Eight) and Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw TWG) completed the top 10.

Grove Racing looked like it was keeping its powder dry with Matt Payne and Kai Allen down in 12th and 13th respectively.

Brodie Kostecki pulled up stumps with 20 minutes to go in the session. Dick Johnson Racing confirmed the #17 would undergo an engine change before qualifying.

NASA Releases Artemis II Lunar Science Data, Images

NASA’s Artemis II crew traveled around the Moon and back and, along the way, captured stunning imagery and scientific observations of our nearest neighbor. NASA is making the full lunar science dataset from their journey available Wednesday to the global science community and the public for further study.

More than 800 gigabytes of Artemis II lunar science data – some previously unreleased – have been uploaded to NASA’s Planetary Data System, the public archive for NASA’s planetary missions. This data release includes more than 11,000 full-resolution images and video of the Moon from the crew’s handheld cameras and the Orion spacecraft’s cameras, 8.5 hours of audio recordings of the crew’s scientific observations of the lunar surface, and crew-annotated images.

NA ŻYWO: Hubert Hurkacz — Novak Djoković w Pekinie. Relacja i wynik live

Punktowy return Huberta Hurkacza! Polak przełamuje Novaka Djokovicia, a to oznacza koniec pierwszego seta!

ATP) z Hubertem Hurkaczem (34. ATP). Właśnie wtedy w turnieju ATP 250 na kortach ziemnych w Genewie Serb wygrał 5:7, 7:6 (7:2), 7:6 (7:2). "Cztery lata temu Hubert Hurkacz skończył karierę Rogerowi Federerowi, rok temu pokonał Rafaela Nadala, a teraz w finale turnieju ATP 250 w Genewie prawie zepsuł urodziny Novakowi Djokoviciowi. Niestety, tylko "prawie". Polak przegrał z Serbem po raz ósmy w ich ósmym starciu. Trudno szukać pocieszenia w tym, że porażka była minimalna – 7:5, 6:7, 6:7. Choć na pewno forma Hurkacza to dobry prognostyk przed Roland Garros, gdzie już we wtorek Hubert zagra w pierwszej rundzie" – pisał wtedy Łukasz Jachimiak, dziennikarz Sport.pl.

Fortuna.

Hubert Hurkacz przyjechał do Szanghaju z zamiarem odbudowy swojej pozycji w światowym tenisie.
