Half-centuries from Alex Carey and captain Mitch Marsh have helped propel Australia to 9-322, setting hosts South Africa a record-breaking quest if they're to wrap up a clean sweep of three wins in the ODI series.
The Proteas, who put the tourists in to bat, will have to pull off the highest successful chase ever in an ODI at Potchefstroom after Marsh powered to his third half-century of the series (56 off 42 balls) at the top of the order and Carey helped iron out some of their middle-order woes with a fine knock of 74.
13th over: South Africa 75-2 (Rickelton 42, Breetzke 13) Marsh has sensed an opportunity to get through some quick overs with his part-timers so he chucks the ball to Renshaw. His third ball is a half-tracker that Rickelton dismisses over square leg for six. But there are just two singles elsewhere so itâs not a momentum swinging over for South Africa.
12th over: South Africa 67-2 (Rickelton 35, Breetzke 12) Spin now a Connolly replaces Bartlett. Heâs flat through the air to start as SA milk three singles. Then he gives one a bit of flight and beats Breetzke in the air, getting it to grip past his outside edge. They ask politely if there was a stumping. There wasnât. Breetzke keeps the strike with a drive down the ground to the man in the deep. SA building, but that required rate is climbing close to 7.

An injury-hit Australia have welcomed back Pat Cummins for their third ODI against South Africa, as they look to avoid a series whitewash. Live updates below!
The visitors are 2-0 down in the three-match series, with alarm bells well and truly ringing just 12 months out from an African ODI World Cup.
Australia have made three changes for the final match of the series, with Cummins returning for his first ODI since 2024 alongside Mitchell Starc, who was rested in the second ODI.
However, despite being Australia’s official ODI captain, Mitchell Marsh will again take the reins in Potchefstroom.
