    Mark and Kirralee Hughes couldn’t have written the script any better.

    On a bleak, miserable 27 May morning, the pair officially unveiled the latest batch of beanies to raise funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) in 2026.

    And, with the cold weather already settling in, the popular “head warmers” are certain to prove extremely popular again.

    What started as a simple idea in Newcastle more than a decade ago has now grown into a movement that’s united people right across Australia.

    “For 12 years, our beanies have helped amass vital funds for brain cancer research, patient support and care programs for families facing this devastating disease,” the Knights’ legend said.

    The Thunder are one win away from an NBA Finals showdown with the Knicks. Oklahoma City took down the Spurs 127-114 in Tuesday night's Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals to take a 3-2 series lead. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 32 points for the Thunder while Alex Caruso pitched in 22 and Jared McCain scored 20 in his first career postseason start. Victor Wembanyama was limited to 20 points on just 4 of 15 shooting in the loss. 

    In the East, the Knicks are in the NBA Finals for the first time this century after finishing a sweep of the Cavaliers on Monday night by winning their 11th straight game and clinching the Eastern Conference crown for the first time since 1999. The Knicks have been shockingly dominant since Game 4 of their first-round series against the Hawks, and they will now have more than a week off before the Finals tip on June 3.

    Memorial Day is often considered the unofficial start of summer. This year, the holiday falls on Monday, May 25.

    Before you head out this Memorial Day, you might want to take note of what stores and businesses will be open or closed. Although many retail and grocery stores will keep their doors open (with some even offering holiday sales), most corporate offices, government agencies and banks will not be operating on Monday since it is a federal holiday.

    Memorial Day is a bank holiday in the Federal Reserve System, so most bank branches will be closed.

    Online banking and ATMs will still be accessible. The stock market will also be closed.

    Is Walmart open or closed on Memorial Day? Here's what to know

    Memorial Day is here, and whether you need to do some grocery shopping for the week ahead or just need to make a last-minute trip to grab some refreshments or grilling materials, consumers should have plenty of options.

    Most restaurants, grocery stores and national retailers will remain open on Monday, May 25.

    However banks, post offices, shipping services and the stock market will be closed because Memorial Day is a federal holiday.

    Walmart will be an option for shoppers, as its stores will operate under regular hours on Memorial Day, the company confirmed to USA TODAY. Most Walmart locations are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

    Here are the businesses and offices that will be closed to honor the country's veterans.

    Yes, Memorial Day is an official federal holiday in the United States.

    Most of FedEx's pickup and delivery services will not be available on Memorial Day, according to the company's website. FedEx Office hours will also be modified, so it is best to check with your local store for their specific hours.

    Walmart typically keeps its stores open on Memorial Day, operating during regular or slightly adjusted hours. Most supercenters open around 7:00 a.m. and close by 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m., while smaller Walmart Neighborhood Markets may have slightly different schedules.
