Manchester United legend Roy Keane has delivered a jab at his former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, claiming he’s “hanging on like a bad smell”.

It comes as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to meet with club bosses regarding the caretaker role, while Michael Carrick has reportedly already met with United leadership about the position.

'Hanging on like a bad smell': Roy Keane takes swipe at Sir Alex Ferguson amid Man United's coach hunt

Manchester United great Roy Keane has taken a swipe at former Sir Alex Ferguson as the hunt for a new coach continues.

The powerhouse Premier League club sacked Ruben Amorim this past week, making it 10 managers since Ferguson departed the end of the 2013-14 season.

Ferguson, who won an astonishing 13 league titles during his time in charge of the Red Devils, has remained a fixture at games and around the club since retiring.

Daniel Sturridge’s Instant Reaction To Roy Keane’s Sir Alex Ferguson Insult

Daniel Sturridge had a priceless reaction to Roy Keane's Sir Alex Ferguson insult in another box office rant.

Former Manchester United captain Keane was on punditry duty for Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Thursday night but the situation at Old Trafford was also on the agenda following on from the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Amid disputes with the club's top brass over transfers and style of play, Amorim was sacked on Monday following a spiky press conference after 1-1 draw with Leeds United the day before.

He finished with a dismal win percentage of 38.1% in the Premier League.

Having been technical director and coach of the Under 18's, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been promoted to interim manager and took charge of the 2-2 draw with Burnley on Wednesday.

Cummins considered for Head-like injection at T20 World Cup

Inspiration from the triumphant 2023 ODI World Cup is fuelling Australia's approach to nursing their superstar paceman into the T20 showpiece

Australia will consider carrying Pat Cummins into the second half of the T20 World Cup if his back injury prohibits him from playing in the first stage of the tournament.

Test skipper Cummins was named in Australia's provisional 15-player squad on Thursday but will be carefully managed as his rehabilitation from a bone stress injury continues.

Cummins' only competitive match since July was the Adelaide Ashes Test in December, where he took three wickets in each innings as he led his side to retaining the urn.

Pat Cummins is likely to miss the start of Australia's Twenty20 World Cup campaign, as selectors eye a mid-tournament injection similar to Travis Head's in 2023.

Australia remain confident Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David will all be fit for next month's tournament, with the trio included in a 15-man squad named earlier this week.

Chief selector George Bailey also confirmed on Saturday that Glenn Maxwell was a genuine back-up option to keep wicket, if Josh Inglis suffered a minor injury with no reserve in the group.

Australia prepared to carry injured Pat Cummins through early T20 World Cup stages

Australia is prepared to carry Pat Cummins through the start of the T20 World Cup, even if he unavailable for the initial stages, according to chief selector George Bailey.

Cummins only played one Ashes Test as he made his return from a stress issue in his back, and was quickly put back on ice after Adelaide.

The skipper has already been ruled out of the short form series against Pakistan between the Ashes and the World Cup.

'Gone off like a rocket': Households cash in on battery rebate

Kim Hammond says environmental concerns were behind her decision to get a home battery and solar system. (ABC News: Cath McAloon)

For a long time, Kim Hammond had wanted to add solar power and a battery to her home on Victoria's surf coast.

Concern for the environment and the impact of her carbon footprint were motivating the 61-year-old, who works in conservation, to move away from relying on fossil fuels, but the cost was prohibitive until recently.

Her household is one of an estimated 155,000 that rushed to take advantage of the federal government's battery subsidy scheme, introduced on July 1, 2025, within its first six months.

Overpowered: battery rebate could be drained in a year

Demand for household solar batteries has soared so high consumers could drain the government’s $2.3 billion rebate fund within a year.

But extending the scheme could deliver long-lasting improvements to the national electricity grid, according to a major retailer, while also forcing down household energy bills.

The warning was issued by Origin Energy, which also revealed the scheme’s popularity had seen electrification inquiries more than double and battery installations reach 1800 per day.

The news comes after federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen revealed Australian households had invested in 136,000 batteries since the launch of the nationwide rebate in July.

How 'inspirational' Cummins ended his 158-day layoff

A fast-tracked and carefully-managed recovery from a bone stress injury looks to have been timed to precision

Pat Cummins zips one past Zak Crawley and there's hardly a murmur. No, the heat has not yet sizzled the Adelaide Oval crowd; until Cummins reaches his arms out wide and carries on his follow-through all the way to Alex Carey, it is not clear that Australia's skipper has, in fact, just dismissed Crawley.

The wider angle, the extra bounce, the sliver of nip away, a shave of the right-hander's outside edge. Pat Cummins, who has not bowled a ball in a game for 158 days, is back with the type of perfect dismissal only Pat Cummins could pull off.

Captain Pat Cummins has helped lift Australia closer to Ashes glory with a crucial three-wicket haul on a controversial day in Adelaide in which Nathan Lyon edged past Glenn McGrath’s career Test wicket tally and Ben Stokes lay the law down to teammate Jofra Archer.

England’s diabolical tour continued as they finished a sweltering day two on 8-213, well short of Australia’s 371, which featured a valuable half-century from Mitchell Starc.

Just like her husband Mitchell Starc, Australia’s star wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy continues to redefine women’s cricket with a flurry of record-breaking feats.

Most recently, she recorded the most centuries in the Women’s ODI World Cup (four) for Australia. The skillful Australian skipper has also achieved the rare feat of scoring back-to-back centuries in two different World Cup editions —2022 and 2025.

Her masterful 142 against India in the ODI World Cup at Vizag in October helped Australia record their then highest successful chase (331) against the hosts in women’s ODIs.

Melbourne Renegades 134 for 4 (Wareham 49*, Webb 33*, Brown 2-45) beat Sydney Sixers 130 for 9 (Perry 65, Wareham 3-21) by six wickets

Melbourne Renegades duo Georgia Wareham and Courtney Webb have produced a match-winning partnership to sink Sydney Sixers and keep the defending WBBL champions in finals contention.

The win had significant ramifications ahead of next week's finals, ending Sixers' three-game winning streak and meaning Hobart Hurricanes will finish top of the ladder.

That means Hurricanes will host the final on Saturday week. Adelaide will host Hurricanes tonight at Karen Rolton Oval, with Strikers needing an upset win to stay in the top-four hunt.
