Malaysia Airlines is now all set to prominently feature on the right chest on Mumbai Indians’ jersey during IPL 2026 after the partnership with Mumbai Indians as its Associate Sponsor and Official Global Airline Partner. To mark the occasion, one hundred Wau Bulan kites were released at the venue in conjunction with Makar Sankranti, India's annual kite flying festival, symbolising the two cultures coming together.

The agreement is part of Malaysia Airlines’ broader strategy to expand brand visibility and commercial reach through sport, with India identified as a key growth market for the national carrier.

The partnership was launched in Mumbai with a cultural event at Jio World Gardens, where 100 traditional Wau Bulan kites were released to coincide with Makar Sankranti, India’s annual kite-flying festival. Mumbai Indians Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene attended the event along with senior club representatives.
