Teresa Palmer Joins Ryan Hurst In Prime Video’s ‘God Of War’
EXCLUSIVE: Teresa Palmer (A Discovery of Witches, Warm Bodies) has been cast in the highly anticipated Prime Video series God of War, based on PlayStation’s ancient mythology-themed video game, sources tell Deadline. She joins Ryan Hurst, who we announced yesterday would take on the lead role of Kratos.
Palmer will play Phoebe/Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family, we hear. Amazon declined to comment.
The live-action series, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, received a two-season order, with pre-production underway in Vancouver, and casting has begun.
From writer, showrunner and executive producer Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, For All Mankind), God of War follows father and son, Kratos (Hurst) and 10-year-old Atreus, as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.

Amazon's upcoming God of War live-action TV adaptation has cast Ryan Hurst as its Kratos. Sony announced the casting today on X with a brief post and an image of both Hurst and Kratos in full scowl mode. Hurst is already sporting a very Kratos-style beard, so he's already got the right vibe going for him. He has past credits on familiar shows such as Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead. The upcoming Amazon series also isn't his first rodeo acting in this universe; Hurst voiced Thor in the video game God of War Ragnarok. But the most important question with this casting news is whether Hurst will even try to match Christopher Judge's spectacular delivery of that single, essential word: "Boy." Deadline reports that the actress has officially signed on to star alongside Ryan Hurst, who joined the PlayStation series adaptation as Kratos earlier this week. The Earth goddess plays a somewhat smaller role in the video games the new show is based on and is most known for appearing during segments from God of War Ragnarok that feature the Ghost of Sparta’s son, Atreus, who has yet to be cast.
