Lhuan-dre Pretorius was carded to open the batting with Aiden Markram, with Ryan Rickelton slotted in at No.3. Jason Smith was given the opportunity to play the finishing role with David Miller out of the series with a groin injury.

Shai Hope missed out for West Indies due to a groin niggle, while Shamar Joseph also did not find a spot in the playing XI.

South Africa to rest trio in first Twenty20 International against West Indies

South Africa will be without the victorious Sunrisers Eastern Cape trio of Quinton de Kock, Marco Jansen and Tristan Stubbs when they start their T20 International series against the West Indies in Paarl on Tuesday.

The players have been given permission to skip the first game of the series after helping their side to the SA20 title with victory over the Pretoria Capitals in the final at Newlands on Saturday.

Wicketkeeper-batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius and seamer Eathan Bosch have been called into the squad for the match at Boland Park only.

The Sunrisers trio will be back for the second and third games on Thursday and Saturday respectively.
