We are getting closer and closer to crowning the 2026 Australian Idol winner now our top 12 have been announced. Judges Marcia Hines, Amy Shark and Kyle Sandilands have seen a wide range of talented singers but there can only be one winner for season 11, and it will be someone from this group!
The top 21 singers performed over three nights, with four progressing each night to make up the top 12. Each judge is also given a Fast Pass which automatically sends someone into that top 12. Think Golden Buzzer in Australia’s Got Talent vibes.

Greek Australian singer Simela Petridis has secured a place in the Top 12 of Australian Idol 2026, continuing her impressive run in one of the country’s most popular singing competitions.
The Adelaide-based teacher and mother advanced during Transformation Week, when contestants performed in front of a live audience for the first time following a series of intense auditions and knockout rounds.
Petridis earned her place in the next stage of the competition with a powerful rendition of ‘Still Breathing’ by Sia, impressing judges with both her vocal strength and emotional delivery.
Since the beginning of the season, judges Kyle Sandilands, Marcia Hines, and Amy Shark have consistently praised Petridis’ warm personality and strong voice, which have quickly made her one of the standout contestants of the competition.

Young Latter-day Saint Advances to Top 21 on Australian Idol
Seventeen-year-old John Standley is stepping into the national spotlight after advancing to the Top 21 on Australian Idol–and earning the affectionate nickname “Johnny Jukebox” from the judges.
John is currently living in Adelaide with his family while his parents serve as mission leaders for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Australia Adelaide Mission. Originally from Bunbury, Western Australia, the Standley family will spend three years in South Australia supporting missionaries and members across the region.
Music has always been central to John’s life. Known for his love of 1950s and 60s classics, he brings a youthful energy and modern twist to beloved hits that have filled homes for generations. His natural stage presence and ability to connect with audiences have already opened remarkable doors.
