Paris-Roubaix 2026: Wout Van Aert beats Tadej Pogacar in sprint finish
Wout van Aert dedicated his win to the family of Michael Goolaerts, who died at Paris-Roubaix eight years ago
Wout van Aert beat four-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar in a thrilling sprint finish to win the Paris-Roubaix title.
Van Aert and Pogacar entered the famous Roubaix Velodrome together after breaking away from other contenders with about 50km of the 260km race remaining, before the Belgian unleashed a stinging attack an exhausted Pogacar could not respond to.
Victory for Slovenian Pogacar, 27, would have completed the set of the five one-day 'Monument' races, adding to his four Tours de France, Giro d'Italia and two road world titles – but he is left still seeking a Paris-Roubaix win.

Paris-Roubaix Men: Wout van Aert edges out Tadej Pogačar to claim his first cobbled Monument victory in thrilling finale after both riders deal with punctures and bike changes
Wout van Aert lifts the cobblestone trophy above his head as the winner of the 2026 Paris-Roubaix!
Tadej Pogačar after the finish: "No, it (luck) wasn't (on my side). But, I think a lot of people had a lot of problems with the punctures. I had three punctures today, and three bikes changes so, it was not ideal but I had a strong team to bring me back just before Arenberg but then I was already cooked and when I was with Wout (Van Aert), there was not much freshness in the legs to really maybe have a chance to drop him on the cobbles. I saw quite fast that it would be mission impossible and I gave my best in the sprint but he won (on the) Champs Elysee, so it is hard to beat him.

New Shimano road bike pedals spotted at Paris-Roubaix – here's everything we know so far
Update 12 April 2026: Mathieu van der Poel had a disaster on the Trouée d'Arenberg where he was unable to clip into Jasper Phillipsen's bike following a puncture, likely confirming the unreleased pedals use a new cleat design.
We’ve spotted a prototype version of Shimano’s new clipless road bike pedals on Jasper Phillipsen's Canyon Endurace for Paris-Roubaix 2026.
At a glance, the overall shape, size and proportions are all very similar to the existing Dura-Ace PD-R9100 pedals. However, a slimmer central section suggests Shimano may be chasing reduced stack height, rather than taking its road bike pedals in a radical new direction.
