Actor James Handy stabbed to death in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES — Actor James Handy, who most recently appeared in “Top Gun: Maverick,” was stabbed to death by his girlfriend’s son in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The suspect, Michael Gledhill, 44, flagged down Los Angeles police officers after a 911 call was made around 9:30 a.m., the police department said.
The 911 caller said, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” the police department said in a statement Thursday.
“With great sadness I can confirm that the gentleman who was attacked and killed on Wednesday in Tarzana was the actor James Handy,” Handy’s talent agent, Pam Ellis-Evenas, said in a statement.

The man killed in a stabbing at a home in Tarzana was identified by authorities Thursday as actor James Handy.
The 81-year-old actor known for his roles on NBC's "The West Wing" and more recently "Top Gun: Maverick" was found unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest Wednesday morning in front of the residence.
Officers responded to the west San Fernando Valley home after receiving a 911 call from someone who said, "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin," the LAPD said.
Officers were flagged down by a man who told them he was the person for whom they were searching, police said. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, resides at the home with his mother, who is Handy's girlfriend, police said.
