George and Amal Clooney evacuate from French house: ‘We do not know whether our beautiful home will survive’

George and Amal Clooney have been forced to evacuate their home in south-eastern France as a wildfire burned nearby, his agent confirmed to Associated Press on Thursday.
The Clooneys bought their hilltop estate, Domaine du Canadel, in Brignoles in the Var in 2021 and it has since become their primary residence. Last December, the French government awarded the whole family â including the coupleâs nine-year-old twins â French citizenship.
In a letter to Didier Bremond, the mayor of Brignoles, the actor wrote that while âat this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment and as we evacuate Brignolesâ, he wanted to âemphasise two thingsâ.

Paris: Hollywood actor George Clooney and his British wife Amal, an international human rights lawyer, have evacuated their luxury home in south-eastern France as a result of the wildfires blazing in the region.
The star behind the Ocean’s Eleven franchise and other films made the statement on Thursday (France time) in a letter to Didier Bremond, the mayor of the town of Brignoles, about 90 kilometres east of Marseille, Clooney’s publicist Guido Gotz said in an email.
Addressed “Dear Didier”, the letter said the Clooneys had “no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment”.
But as they evacuate Brignoles they wanted to assure Bremond that, whatever happened to the community, “we’ll be part of making it whole”, the letter said.
