Ed Sheeran breaks silence on Macklemore tour removal, as all remaining openers drop out
All of Ed Sheeran’s remaining Loop tour opening acts have quit following Macklemore’s removal for sharing messages of support for Palestine on-stage.
Aaron Rowe, Finneas and Lukas Graham and Sheeran’s touring band, Beoga, have all withdrawn within hours of Sheeran, 35, releasing a lengthy statement sharing his perspective.
Finneas, brother of Billie Eilish, said he stood with Palestine and its people.
“Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed,” the 29-year-old wrote on social media.
The resignations come after Sheeran said Macklemore getting dropped was the “promoter’s decision”.
The Thinking Out Loud musician confirmed that Robert Kraft, the billionaire owner of Gillette Stadium and the New England Patriots NFL team, was one of the main voices insisting on the rapper’s removal.

Ed Sheeran says dropping American rapper Macklemore from his US concert tour was not his decision but that of the tour's promoter.
Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran's US tour after his pro-Palestinian comments and "Free Palestine" remarks during a September 4 concert in New Jersey.
Sheeran said in a social media post that he "spoke with (tour) venues at length all week to try to build a bridge," but that "the venue's and promoter's decision was final."

Ed Sheeran’s US tour in chaos as supporting acts, band quit after Macklemore axed
Ed Sheeran’s opening acts and touring band have pulled out of his Loop tour after US rapper Macklemore was dropped for expressing support for Palestine on stage.
Artists Finneas and Aaron Rowe, Danish band Lukas Graham and Irish folk quintet Beoga posted black-and-grey tiled carousel statements on social media overnight (AEST), supporting Macklemore and Palestine.
Macklemore himself posted a black carousel to Instagram on Tuesday (AEST), revealing his pro-Palestinian views led stadium owners to bar him from performing at their venues.
Sheeran, referred to as “apolitical” in Macklemore’s post but who has publicly supported Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war, has responded to the US tour fallout and fan backlash with his own black carousel post on Instagram.
