Learn more about Anthony Romero's UFC history, fighter facts, and Q&A below.
What does it mean for you to fight for the UFC? Fighting for the UFC means everything to me. When other kids wanted to be cops and doctors, I wanted to be a UFC fighter. I used to get made fun of because of that dream. Now I get to show the world that I belong.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I’ve been in this sport since I was 10 years old. I was supposed to be a statistic, but I knew what I wanted, and I’ve dedicated my life to it.
Anthony Romero UFC Profile: Record, Stats and Background
Anthony Romero has spent the best part of a decade fighting in rooms most fans never see, from casino ballrooms in Commerce to a hotel events centre in Woodland Hills. The Los Angeles Bantamweight known as The Bully built his 7-2 professional MMA record, with one no contest, almost entirely on the Southern California regional scene.
He did it with a losing pro debut, a 17-month layoff straight after it and a title run that took a couple of dents along the way.
Romero was born in the United States and fights out of Los Angeles, California. He stands 5ft 6in and makes 135lbs as a natural Bantamweight, though his UFC debut is booked a division up at Featherweight due to it being a short notice fight. Home is Black House MMA, where he works under coach Juan Gomez, known around the gym as the Brazilian Samurai.
