Treasury Wine sells Rosemount label back to billionaire Oatley family

Treasury Wine Estates has sold the Rosemount brand back to the billionaire Oatley family for a tiny fraction of the $1.5 billion price its forerunner company paid for the business 25 years ago when the wine industry was booming.

Australia’s biggest winemaker, owner of the iconic Penfolds brand, said on Monday it had sold Rosemount and two other smaller labels – Ingoldby Wines and Secret Stone – to the Oatley family for an undisclosed price.
