Fagan responds to Neale's Magpies meeting

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan addresses Lachie Neale's meeting with Collingwood last week

CHRIS Fagan says he hasn't lost any sleep over Lachie Neale's decision to tour Collingwood's facilities last week, but conceded he would have preferred it happened after the Lions played Carlton, not before.

Brisbane's two-time Brownlow Medal winner was taken through the Magpies home base last Friday, just 24 hours out from his team's date with the Blues at Marvel Stadium.

Following revelations of Neale's tour, and the Lions' subsequent 76-point loss, former players and pundits criticised the timing of the free agent's visit to a rival club.

Speaking ahead of his team's crucial match against Hawthorn on Friday night, Fagan said it was something the industry had to get used to.

Lachie Neale toured Magpies HQ one day, played for the Lions the next. His coach had no idea

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan says he’s not losing any sleep over the Lions’ dual Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale touring a rival club’s headquarters.

Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan says it would have been nice for Lachie Neale to tell him of his tour of a rival club’s headquarters.

Dual Brownlow medallist Neale visited Collingwood’s base last Friday, a day before Brisbane crashed to a 76-point loss to Carlton.

Neale, widely expected to leave the Lions and join the Magpies at the end of this season, didn’t tell Fagan of his plans.

“He hadn’t spoken to me about it, so I wasn’t aware,” Fagan said.

‘We want to get better’: Magpies star comments on Neale visit

Injured Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott has commented on the club’s pursuit of Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale.

SEN's Tom Morris (see full story below) reported on the weekend that Neale was at the KGM Centre last Friday to tour the Magpies’ facilities.

Elliott says the club is all about getting better, so if they have to look at top players from rival clubs then that’s what they’ll do.

“We run the motto of ‘we want to get better’, so if that’s looking at players that can make us better in any regard then obviously we want to look at those players,” Elliott said on SEN Breakfast.
