Martin O'Neill has spent the international break taking stock of Celtic's alarming slide.
The wily old fox has masterminded some of the most famous results in the Hoops' history. Now he needs to summon that old magic and devise a plan to drag the faltering Scottish champions back on track. First and foremost, the veteran gaffer must settle on a system – and stick to it – that gets his players firing again.
Celts are suffering an identity crisis, with murmurings from inside the dressing room suggesting some players are unconvinced by the message coming from the dugout. Cameron Carter-Vickers appeared to confirm as much when he claimed O'Neill's beleaguered squad has been reduced to playing without a script.
CELTIC GIVEN EXTRA FIR PARK INCENTIVE
CELTIC have been given an extra incentive to make sure they overcome Motherwell at Fir Park tomorrow afternoon.
Derek McInnes’ Ibrox side took over pole position in the Premiership after this afternoon’s 3-1 win against Kilmarnock in Govan gave them a one-point advantage.
If Martin O’Neill’s men required any additional motivation it was provided with this result in a game where the hosts led 3-0 at the interval after Killie had passed up three gilt-edged opportunities in the opening 45 minutes.
Bizarrely, Neil McCann’s side not only passed up a trio of excellent openings, they also failed to hit the target on every occasion with wayward finishes.
