NRLW Round 2 Team News: Back Home

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs side to face the Gold Coast Titans at Accor Stadium has been named.

The Bulldogs will be celebrating Old Boys' Day at Accor Stadium on Saturday afternoon, honouring every single player who has donned the Blue and White since 1935.

A host of former players will be on hand at the match, beginning with a march to Accor Stadium alongside the NRL squad before taking a lap of honour around the ground throughout the day.

Round 2 will also see Bulldogs Members and supporters treated to a double header, with the NRL team playing against the Canberra Raiders at 5:30pm.

Total Eclipse of the Heart singer Bonnie Tyler dies, aged 75

Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has died, aged 75, after weeks in an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery while in Portugal in May.

“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,” a message on her website and Facebook page told fans.

Tyler, whose name at birth was Gaynor Hopkins, was famous for the ’80s hits Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding out for a Hero (from the 1984 Footloose soundtrack).

The news of her death crashed her official website with it receiving “too many requests”.

Virgin Media has been fined £28m for repeatedly preventing customers from cancelling contracts, Ofcom said.

The communications regulator said it uncovered tactics including agents deliberately hanging up calls, and customers being put on hold "for no reason".

It said millions of calls from customers were "likely mishandled" over a three-year period which prevented or delayed them from switching to a better broadband, landline or pay-TV deal.

The penalty was reduced by 30% as Virgin Media admitted its failing and agreed to settle, Ofcom added. Virgin Media apologised to the "small proportion who experienced an issue when contacting us to agree a new deal or cancel their service in the past".

Virgin Media has been fined Â£28m by the UK telecoms watchdog for repeatedly preventing customers from cancelling their contracts over a near three-year period.

Ofcom discovered that Virgin Media âlikely mishandledâ millions of phone calls between the start of 2022 and autumn 2024, with deliberate call-dropping tactics, unnecessary call transfers and putting customers on hold for âno reasonâ.

The watchdog investigated the company after it received almost 2,000 complaints from Virgin Media broadband, landline and pay TV customers who struggled to cancel their contracts.

The Â£28m fine, which was reduced by 30% as Virgin Media admitted to its failing and agreed to settle the case, is Ofcomâs biggest ever under the regulatorâs consumer protection rules.
