HBO Max Quietly Adds Certified Fresh Neo-Western Thriller Starring Bob Odenkirk

Bob Odenkirk has built quite the illustrious career in Hollywood, earning Emmys, a Peabody Award, and a host of award nominations. While he's been in several films and TV shows over the years, his most notable role is, without a doubt, portraying Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Well, in April of this year, he starred in a film as an interim sheriff who's determined to get to the bottom of a explosive mystery plaguing a small town. Classified as a new-Western action comedy thriller (a mouthful), it wowed both critics and fans, and now it's streaming on HBO Max for subscribers.

Bob Odenkirk's Underrated 2026 Action Movie Is A Must-Watch On HBO Max

Bob Odenkirk's late-career action endeavors have been pretty impressive. 2026's "Normal" is no different and is available to stream on HBO Max right now.

Typically, when a well-established star makes a career turn towards action movies of a certain kind, it's a bad omen. The Old Man Liam Neeson action oeuvre, for example, has given us some great films, but on the whole it's been one "Taken" clone after another. So, when Odenkirk suddenly emerged as a John Wick-esque badass in 2021's "Nobody," it didn't seem like the most auspicious development.

Thankfully, the film turned out to be more than your standard action B-movie. /Film's Chris Evangelista might have dismissed "Nobody" as a disappointing "John Wick" clone, and in many ways it was. But that wasn't necessarily surprising considering the movie was written by "John Wick" scribe Derek Kolstad and produced by "John Wick" co-director David Leitch, whose 87North Productions also oversaw Odenkirk's action debut. Despite the unmistakable John Wick stamp, however, "Nobody" at least tried to have some fun with Odenkirk's everyman aura and apparent lack of action bonafides, giving it an edge over your typical Jason Statham-style hardman outing.

Dolphins lock Ray Stone has been forced into retiring from the NRL at age 29, with the cult hero succumbing to persistent injuries.

Off contract at the end of this year, Stone has told his Dolphins teammates he will not play on beyond this year.

The lock had battled shoulder injuries to play almost all of last season, with Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf making special mention of his toughness at last year's presentation.

Stone to retire after 2026 finals tilt

Dolphins’ cult hero and foundation player Ray Stone has announced he will call time on his rugby league career at the conclusion of the 2026 NRL season.

In his usual understated manner, Stone told teammates yesterday that persistent injuries had led to his decision to retire.

The 29-year-old holds a spot in history as the club’s second NRL signing – after Felise Kaufusi – as the Dolphins began building their inaugural squad ahead of the 2023 season.

Upon arrival at the club, Stone became a fan favourite through his toughness, relentless work rate and fearless approach to the game.

He has played an important role in helping shape the club through its first four seasons in the NRL, earning the respect of teammates, coaches and supporters along the way – all while forgoing praise or fanfare.

Lynskey, 49, who was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand, but has been living in Los Angeles for the past 26 years, opened up about her desire to one day return to her home country while speaking to the NZ Herald.

Released on August 14, Don’t Say Good Luck is a 2026 Netflix coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by Julia Hart and co-produced by Adam Sandler. The film follows Sophie Birenbaum (Sunny Sandler), a 17-year-old high school theater kid who lands the lead role in her school’s production of Waitress. Why the India-Pakistan hockey rivalry is different – ABC Asia

One of sport's most enduring and volatile rivalries was born out of an Olympic gold medal match in Melbourne 70 years ago.

Before cricket became the subcontinent's sporting obsession, whenever India and Pakistan met on a hockey field, an entire region seemed to stop.

That was certainly the case at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 6, 1956, when the neighbours faced off in their first-ever Olympic match following Partition of 1947.

India's legendary captain, Balbir Singh Sr, was a two-time Olympic champion and a cool-headed leader, but admitted in his memoirs that he was unable to sleep the night before this historic match.

We have some disappointing news about Lucky season 1 episode 7

This summer, there have been a long list of incredible new streaming shows to keep us on the edge of our seats during the hottest days of the year. From binge-watching every second of Netflix's I Will Find You in one sitting to falling head over heels for the authentic coming-of-age tale in Prime Video's Sterling Point, it's been a great time for TV. Of course, that includes Apple TV's Lucky.

Anya Taylor-Joy headlines the electric miniseries from executive producer Reese Witherspoon, and since the premiere of Lucky back in July, we have been itching week after week to see what will happen to the titular character. She's come a long way from the cat and mouse chase that had her on the run at the start of the show, but the deadly trail has inevitably reached its end.

Lucky S1E7 Recap: “All Good Things” (Finale) — A Happy Ending

The following recap contains spoilers for Lucky S1E7, “All Good Things” (written by Cassie Pappas and directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken)

Does the finale of Lucky have a happy ending? By the episode’s end, Lucky has managed to free herself from Wayne, Priscilla, Agent Rand, the FBI, and, most importantly, her father, John. She’s lost pretty much everything at this point, but she seems at relative peace on that beach, the rest of her life available to her in a way it never has been before. In my opinion, “All Good Things” definitely has a happy ending.

Victory return to NSW for Aus Cup tie

Melbourne Victory visit APIA Leichhardt in the Hahn Australia Cup Quarter-Final.

The last-eight tie, on Wednesday, August 19, kick-off 7:30pm AEST, at Leichhardt Oval, pits one of only two remaining Isuzu UTE A-League sides in the competition versus the league leaders from NPL New South Wales.

APIA knocked out its rivals for the league title, Sydney United 58, in the Round of 16, coming through a penalty shootout, just as Victory did to beat their interstate rivals, Western Sydney Wanderers, when Jack Duncan saved three spot kicks.

The matchup, live on Paramount+, is the first meeting between the two clubs since they met in a 2018 Australia Cup match, and is for a place in the Semi-Final against Sydney FC, who edged SD Raiders on Tuesday night.

Hahn Australia Cup 2026 QF MD2 Preview: APIA Leichhardt hope to create history against Melbourne Victory

APIA are in red hot form in both league and cup competitions and are well placed to tackle the two-time Hahn Australia Cup winners.

APIA Leichhardt have the chance to reach the Hahn Australia Cup semi-finals for the first time in their history when they take on Melbourne Victory.

The last time these sides played was in 2018, when APIA ‘Cupset’ Victory 3-2 in the Round of 16 to reach the quarter-final stage. They will take heart from that matchup, as well as the strength of member federation teams in general this year, with an already record breaking amount of 'Cupsets' in the book.

How to watch APIA Leichhardt v Melbourne Victory: Live stream, kick-off time for Australia Cup quarter-final

APIA Leichhardt will look to recreate one of the most famous upsets in Australia Cup history when they host Melbourne Victory in a blockbuster quarter-final at Leichhardt Oval on Wednesday night.

The NPL NSW giants have reached the last eight by defeating Peninsula Power 2-1 in the Round of 32 before overcoming Sydney United 58 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the Round of 16.

Their reward is a meeting with A-League powerhouse Melbourne Victory and, for APIA supporters, a chance to revisit some very happy memories.

The two clubs famously met at the same venue in the 2018 competition, when APIA stunned the reigning A-League champions with a 3-2 victory in one of the competition’s great Cupsets.

Revealed: How leadership coup has changed Labor’s electoral fortunes

The Labor Party’s decision to move against Jacinta Allan and install Ben Carroll as Victorian premier has failed to deliver a bounce in the polls, with the government’s primary support continuing to slip in the lead-up to the November state election.

A Resolve Political Monitor survey of voting intentions conducted two weeks after the leadership spill shows the Jess Wilson-led opposition in a strong electoral position. Indicative preference flows from One Nation and Labor voters are likely to deliver the Coalition a swag of seats across Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs and in regional areas.

Labor’s primary support dropped 2 points to 25 per cent, which is the government’s worst result since its polling nadir in the lead-up to last year’s federal election. Although Carroll is significantly more popular than Allan, only 20 per cent of respondents nominated the new Labor leader as their preferred premier, a figure 4 points lower than Allan scored in her final survey as premier.

Voters ranked Australia state governments – one clear leader emerged

Last month’s leadership change in Victoria has done nothing to lift the standing of the state government, with a new survey showing voters rate its overall performance as abysmal.

In stark contrast, the South Australian Labor government of Peter Malinauskas is the standout performer among voters, and its WA counterpart is not far behind. Of the remainder of the five most populous states surveyed, the Queensland and NSW governments, the latter of which faces an election next year, are rated about average.

Victorian State Voting Intention: L-NP Coalition and One Nation set for a majority in Victoria’s Upper House in November

The L-NP Coalition is set to win 11 seats in Victoria’s Upper House, just ahead of One Nation (10 seats) and the ALP (nine seats). Three seats are set to be won by the Greens (two seats) and Other Parties (one seat) with seven seats still undecided according to a special SMS Roy Morgan Poll conducted from August 5-7, 2026, with a representative Victoria-wide cross-section of 2,084 electors.

The SMS Roy Morgan Poll interviewed an average of over 250 electors in each of Victoria’s eight Upper House regions.

Importantly, these results show that the L-NP Coalition and One Nation are set to win a majority of at least 21 seats in Victoria’s Upper House compared to a total of 11 seats for the ALP and the Greens, with seven seats still to be decided.

‘Full of s**t’: Hanson loses it at Treasurer | One Nation’s reform is economic vandalism di…

Explore the latest developments concerning ‘Full of s**t’:.

One Nation’s reform is economic vandalism disguised as compassion

One Nation’s Barnaby Joyce and Pauline Hanson have apparently discovered a brilliant economic principle: if Australians cannot afford to live today, let them spend the money they will need tomorrow (“Chalmers warns of Hanson threat to super after One Nation leader calls system ‘broken’”, 17 August). Joyce wants broader access to super for housing and hardship; Hanson says the system is “broken”. What’s broken is their logic. If people cannot afford food, rent or a home, tackle those problems – don’t hand them a crowbar and point them towards their retirement savings. COVID should have taught us the danger of treating super as readily available cash: more than $36 billion was withdrawn, much of it by people who could least afford to sacrifice future returns. Existing early-access provisions cover cases of genuine hardship. Every dollar raided today means less at retirement and years of lost returns. It simply shifts today’s problem into the future and makes it bigger. Nor does it fix housing affordability. It doesn’t build a single home; it just pours more money into the market, pushing prices higher. One Nation’s apparent unfamiliarity with what drives inflation is becoming something of a theme. It is painfully clear that Hanson and her clueless treasury spokesperson understand remarkably little about superannuation. Tackling hardship at 40 by helping create poverty at 70 isn’t reform – it’s economic vandalism dressed up as compassion. Denise McHugh, Tamworth

The One Nation leader has made it clear that her party backs looser rules around how Australians can access their retirement savings.

In a cost-of-living crisis, she argues it’s not right to force people to save for the future when they can’t make ends meet today.

“Some people, you know, who need these [medical] operations can’t get access to their superannuation to have that done,” Hanson claimed this week. “Superannuation should be lightened up a bit so people can utilise this money in times of crisis. It is their money.”
