Chinese women's football team officials have praised Newcastle as the perfect location to finalise preparations for their AFC Women's Asian Cup defence, enjoying the city's laid-back lifestyle and rating two of its premier sporting facilities as "world-class".

China spent the past week in Newcastle, training at Darling Street Oval in Hamilton South and No.2 Sportsground in Newcastle West.

On Friday morning, they had a practice hit-out against the Newcastle Jets' A-League Women's side at No.2 Sportsground before relocating to Sydney where they will open their Asian Cup defence against Bangladesh on Wednesday night.
