MegaETH TVL Rises 65% in a Week, but TGE Conditions Remain Unmet

Ethereum Layer 2 MegaETH’s mainnet, which launched on Feb. 9 following a high‑profile stress test ahead of its debut, has seen total value locked climb to roughly $66.48 million as of today, Feb. 16. The total value on MegaETH represents a roughly 65% increase compared with TVL at the immediate post‑launch period, where it was around $40.3 million, data from DefiLlama shows.

Stablecoins account for the bulk of on‑chain balances, with the chain’s $99.2 million stablecoin market cap up 56% over the past week, while bridged asset TVL are about $122 million.

Decentralized crypto exchange Kumbaya is the largest app on MegaETH by value locked by a wide margin, with roughly $51 million in TVL, dwarfing other early entrants as users have parked capital in its liquidity pools since launch.

Transak Unlocks Instant Fiat Access to MegaETH’s 100K TPS Network

Transak expanded its payment infrastructure as it unlocked instant fiat access to MegaETH’s high-speed network, which processes 100,000 transactions per second. The integration now streamlines direct ETH purchases on MegaETH and removes several long standing onboarding barriers. The update positions Transak as a central gateway for rapid blockchain activity.

Transak activated full support for MegaETH and enabled users to acquire ETH directly on the chain without external steps. The company linked its global payment rails to the real-time Layer 2 network and created a unified flow. Transak ensured that the experience supports cards, wallets, and regional methods.

The integration allows more than 10 million users to enter MegaETH without bridging or exchange accounts. Transak also removed the need for prior crypto holdings and simplified the entire onboarding process. The update aligns with MegaETH’s objective to support internet-level speeds and consistent execution.

Ex-MasterChef judge returns to hospitality with new pop-up after underpayment scandal

Celebrity chef George Calombaris is making a return to Melbourne’s dining scene, announcing a new Greek pop-up restaurant launching this month as he re-establishes his presence in the city’s competitive hospitality market.

Former MasterChef Australia judge George Calombaris is about to re-enter Melbourne’s hospitality scene with the launch of his new restaurant, Auto Greek.

The Greek pop-up will run for one month from February 27 at Ovolo Melbourne’s South Yarra hotel, taking over the space formerly occupied by the recently closed Lona Misa restaurant.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Calombaris dismissed suggestions he had turned his back on Victoria, saying he was eager to reconnect with Melbourne’s food scene.

George Calombaris is returning to Melbourne’s hospitality scene with Auto Greek, a one-month pop-up opening February 27 at Bar Yarra inside Ovolo Melbourne South Yarra, his first new local venue in three years.

Calombaris said the move marks a careful re-entry after recent years in Sydney.

“I haven’t left, my heart is in Victoria,” he said, adding the pop-up was “a great way to re-enter Melbourne.”

Calombaris said he is open to a permanent return, describing the opportunity as “a gift” and saying he is “excited for my second chapter.”

Joel Fearon: From pizza delivery man to Winter Olympic hopeful

Winter Olympics medallist Joel Fearon has competed for Great Britain, Switzerland and Jamaica across bobsleigh and athletics

"The fastest man in the UK this year and he's not even going to the Olympics."

That was the line belted out by the commentator as Joel Fearon stunned onlookers by running the 100m in under 10 seconds – breaking one of the most revered barriers in sport.

Frustratingly, the performance came just after the cut-off date to qualify for Team GB at Rio 2016.

A decade on, the 37-year-old is at his third Winter Olympics, but his first for Jamaica's bobsleigh team, who he came out of retirement for last year.

Cool Runnings 2.0: Jamaica’s bobsleigh crew want their own Hollywood ending

Chris Stokes, part of the 1988 team that inspired a film, is setting lofty goals as head of Jamaica’s bobsleigh federation

It did not make so much as a ripple outside its minor sporting niche, but something particularly unusual occurred in the bobsleigh world earlier this year. Upon turning up in the New York outpost of Lake Placid for their final Winter Olympics warm-up competition, Jamaica’s four-man bobsleigh team were informed they were not allowed to take part. A hat-trick of gold medals over the preceding few weeks had seen them rise too high in the world rankings to take their customary place on the second-tier North American Cup circuit. They had simply become too good.

How do you describe a night with Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor at her long-anticipated hometown return? Ethereal, raw, quirky, emotional, bizarre? All of the above? But one thing I didn’t expect was to walk out feeling even more proud to be a Kiwi.

Be it standing in her Calvin Klein
underwear and Blues rugby T-shirt, sipping from her rainbow water bottle (her Instagram profile picture that is “probably more famous than her”, she jokes), or running on a treadmill while singing Supercut, Lorde proved to her Tāmaki Makaurau brothers and sisters that being yourself, especially when things are against you, is one of the most empowering things you can do.

Review: Lorde’s sweaty, sublime, superstar return to Christchurch

Seeing Lorde is to feel like you’ve seen God, Alex Casey finds as she joins the Wolfbrook Arena, Ōtautahi stop of Lorde’s Ultrasound tour.

It was the most assured down trou I have ever seen. When the whole of Wolfbrook Arena flushed red for ‘Current Affairs’, a three-minute song more illicit and erotically-charged than anything ‘Wuthering Heights’ could muster in two hours, Lorde dropped her baggy men’s jeans to reveal a sweat-soaked pair of blood red Calvins. Song after song, she continued to peel off layer after layer, determined to remove all obstacles between her and the audience and reach the kind of total transparency of Virgin’s infamous x-ray album cover.

Ford Australia has recalled some of its Ranger and Everest units, according to a Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication, Sports and the Arts filing.

It concerns 244 units affected in the 2022 model year relating to a low battery level causing the transmission to shift into the Park setting at low speeds.

“Due to a software issue, under certain circumstances if the battery level drops below a critical threshold, the transmission may shift into Park when the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 6 km/h,” the notice reads.

Ford recalls 2022 Ford Ranger and Ford Everest models over safety issue

Ford has issued an urgent recall affecting two car models over major safety concerns caused by software issues.

The alert was issued for the 2022 Ford Ranger and Ford Everest models, with more than 200 cars affected.

The Department of Transport said the vehicles have a defect caused by a software issue, where if the battery level drops below a critical threshold, the transmission may shift itself into the park position when the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 6km/h.

“This may cause a sudden stop without the rear brake lamps illuminating as intended,” they said.

“A sudden stop whilst driving at low speed and the rear brake lamps not illuminating as intended could increase the potential risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

What is AIN at Olympics? Explaining neutral athletes

MILAN — Officially, Russia is banned from the Olympics because Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. At the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina, there will be no Russian flags, no Russian anthems and no Russian national colors incoporated in the competition. (The same holds true for Belarus, which has supported Russia in the war.)

But there will be athletes with Russian and Belarussian passports competing as "Individual Neutral Athletes," or AINs for short, if they meet specific conditions. That contingent will include 13 Russians and seven Belarussians, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Jan. 29.

If any of the AIN athletes were to win gold, a wordless anthem commissioned by the IOC would play. And none of the them will be allowed to participate in the Opening Ceremony Feb. 6. The IOC used the same procedure for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

IOC moves closer to reinstating Russia by LA28, but backlash may put its return on ice

This is read by an automated voice. Please report any issues or inconsistencies here.

MILAN — Leaders of the International Olympic Committee appear ready to lift suspensions of Russia and Belarus, clearing the way for athletes from those countries to return to major international competitions perhaps as early as the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

But those plans may have hit a snag last week with the international show of support for Ukrainian skeleton slider Vladyslav Heraskevych, who was disqualified from the Milan-Cortina Games for refusing to compete without a helmet featuring images of people killed following the Russian invasion of his country.

Russia plays prideful, but there’s no doubt the Olympics ban is hurting | Bruce Berglund

Some Russians have dismissed the Games over the continued exclusion of their athletes. But the truth is international sport is still important to Moscow

Duma member Vitaly Milonov didn’t mince words when asked four years ago about the international ban against Russian athletes.

“There’s no point in humiliating ourselves and begging to be let in,” said the St Petersburg deputy, a member of Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party. “We have our pride.” International events had been corrupted by the United States, he claimed in a 2022 interview, just weeks after the International Olympic Committee and other governing bodies imposed the ban. “Only Russia can say no. Other countries will accept whatever nonsense the Americans force on them – teams of vegans, queers and lesbians.”
