Changing attention to this game – the sun is out in Seattle. The broadcasters are bundled up against the cold, but the conditions absolutely won’t affect the players here.

There will be a lot of pointed questions for the Broncos coaching staff after that one. With a backup QB and whiteout conditions, they insisted on throwing the ball instead of running it against a snowblind defense. And then they utterly failed to contain Drake Maye on the last meaningful play, letting him roam free to pick up a game-clinching first down.

The NFC championship game could be the greatest NFL playoff matchup of all time

When the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams meet for the NFC championship Sunday night, it will be — by at least one measure — the best NFL showdown of nearly the last five decades.

“By DVOA, the NFC Championship Game is essentially the best NFL matchup of the last 47 years, and by a lot,” Aaron Schatz, the chief analytics officer of FTN Fantasy, posted on X in the lead-up to the game.

DVOA, for those unfamiliar, stands for “Defense-adjusted Value Over Average.” What is measures is a “team’s efficiency by comparing success on every single play to a league average based on situation and opponent.” More simply put, it’s a measure of how good a team is, weighted for situation and opposing team.

Stephen A. Smith dives into Sam Darnold's numbers vs. the Rams and how they will affect the Seahawks' chances. (1:49)

RENTON, Wash. — Sam Darnold got sacked, then got up gingerly.

It was late in the first quarter of Seattle's divisional round matchup against the San Francisco 49ers last Saturday at Lumen Field, and it might have been the only tense moment the Seahawks experienced in a 41-6 win that got them into Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams (6:30 p.m. ET, Fox).

Igor Jesus scores second Premier League goal of season to give Nottingham Forest lead

Brentford lose at home in Premier League for just the second time this season

Nottingham Forest gave their hopes of Premier League survival a major boost with a hard-fought win against Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium.

Goals from Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi proved decisive in a victory that moved them level on points with 16th-placed Leeds United, but crucially five clear of third-bottom West Ham.

Brentford began brightly and were unlucky not to open the scoring after just 94 seconds with Igor Thiago poking wide.

Igor Jesus and Awoniyi sink Brentford to ease Forest away from relegation danger

Nottingham Forest finished their rollercoaster week on the up, with three away points against Brentford restoring their five-point buffer from the relegation zone.

Mouthwatering goals from Forest’s maligned strikers, first Igor Jesus with a blaster then a solo effort from Taiwo Awoniyi, put memories of fan displeasure after defeat in the Europa League behind Sean Dyche and his team and confirmed four league points in eight days after their Arsenal draw. Awoniyi’s goal in particular was a welcome milestone, his first since being placed in an induced coma after he collided with a post at the end of last season.

I Was Skeptical of Charlie Sheen’s Nonalcoholic Beer. Here's My Honest Review of Wild AF Cold Gold

I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d like Charlie Sheen’s nonalcoholic beer Wild AF Cold Gold. Could Sheen—who isn’t exactly famous for his discerning palate when it comes to alcohol—be trusted to put out a high-quality product?

Well, when I cracked open a can of his cheekily named golden lager-like beer that references his role in the smash hit Major League, I was pleasantly surprised.

The beer was downright quaffable and paired perfectly with a range of foods. If you hadn’t told me it was nonalcoholic, I wouldn’t have noticed. I’ll credit its drinkability to the fact that Sheen partnered with New England craft beer pioneers Harpoon Brewery. It took them about two years to dial in the flavor, which was built around Sheen’s personal preference and designed to be the ultimate ballpark beer. Their hard work certainly paid off.

The Shire of York has removed promotional memorabilia of the children's book turned motion picture Runt after renowned author Craig Silvey was arrested on child exploitation material charges.

Shire president Chris Gibbs said it was challenging to separate the art from the artist, but it was important for the community to remain proud of the work they did when Runt was filmed locally.

While Perth’s median house price has joined the $1 million club, property values in Geraldton continue to soar to new highs, with fresh data showing a 20 per cent jump in the past year.

According to Domain’s December quarter house price report, Greater Geraldton’s median house price has climbed by $100,000 to $590,000 over the past year. That is a rise of 20.4 per cent from the mark of $490,000 set in December 2024.

Compared to five years ago when Geraldton’s median house price was $330,000, values have skyrocketed 78.8 per cent.

Barcelona vs. Oviedo live stream: How to watch LaLiga, odds, start time

Amid Barcelona's strong season, something that's flying under the radar is that there has been a shift in Hansi Flick's attack. Last season, it was Robert Lewandowski playing the majority of the minutes at striker, but now it has been Ferran Torres who has taken the role and run with it. While Lewandowski had his best goalscoring season in his career under Flick at Bayern Munich and his best output at Barcelona under Flick as well, at 37, it was only a matter of time until a challenger came for the Polish striker's spot.

What wasn't expected was that it would be someone who was primarily a winger in the Premier League at Manchester City and has been a rotational player for Barcelona to end up taking that role, but that's just what has happened. Flick asks his strikers to be involved both in the buildup and in putting the ball into the back of the net, which helps maximize the electric wingers that he has in Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, which Torres has done well this season.

Barcelona XI vs. Real Oviedo: Flick Picks Pedri Replacement—Injury News, Lineup Prediction

Barcelona aim to return to winning ways in La Liga when they host the struggling Real Oviedo on Sunday afternoon at the Camp Nou.

A stumble in their visit to Real Sociedad last week saw Barcelona’s lead atop the La Liga standings cut to only a point. After a tenacious 4–2 Champions League victory against Slavia Prague midweek, Hansi Flick’s men will return home to play at Camp Nou for the first time since Dec. 13.

Bottom of the league Real Oviedo should be a comfortable task for Barcelona. The visitors haven’t won in La Liga since September and are on their third permanent manager of the term. Still, Flick’s men must be sharp or they could finish the weekend trailing Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.

Hearts & Celtic in seismic showdown, Olsen primed for Rangers debut

It is an indication of the importance of Sunday's game that Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts and second-top reigning champions Celtic have both been scrambling to acquire new signings to bolster their starting line-ups at Tynecastle.

Not surprising considering the consensus is that January recruitment could be the telling factor in what is now a three-horse race for the title.

Doubly so for Hearts considering they have lost possibly their two most key players in captain Lawrence Shankland and midfield dynamo Cammy Devlin to lengthy spells on the sidelines.

They also have another influential midfielder, Beni Baningime, suspended for Celtic's visit.

WE CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE: Martin O'Neill admits it will be 'a long way back' for Celtic in title face if Hearts beat them in Tynecastle showdown

Martin O’Neill admits it will be ‘a long way back’ for Celtic in the title race if they lose Sunday's top-of-the-table showdown with Hearts.

Derek McInnes’ men are currently six points clear of both Old Firm sides in the race to win the Premiership, and defeat at Tynecastle would leave the defending champions facing a nine-point deficit.

With in-form Rangers facing Dundee at Ibrox at the same time on Sunday, the battle for the Premiership crown is going into overdrive this weekend.

‘It’s going to be very big, no question about it,’ said  73-year-old manager O'Neill. ‘If we get beaten, it’s a long way back for us. It’s a bit of a trek at the minute, so we would go out to try and win the game if we can.

Nobody has a grasp of Grand Slam five-set matches quite like Stan Wawrinka.

Playing inspired tennis reminiscent of the form that earned him three Grand Slam titles, the Swiss wildcard on Thursday became the first player aged 40 or over to reach the third round at a major since Ken Rosewall at the 1978 Australian Open. Wawrinka, 40, broke the 48-year drought with a nail-biting 4-6 6-3 3-6 7-5 7-6 [10-3] win over 21-year-old French qualifier Arthur Gea.

It’s safe to say Melbourne Park is quieter this morning than it has been all week.

Fewer matches and the average weather are probably to blame, but fans are still filing through the gates this morning, with a small crowd already gathering at court 16 for Carlos Alcaraz’s training session later this morning.

The world No.1 is due to begin practice at 10.30am, but eager fans are already lining the sides of the court in hopes of catching a glimpse, a selfie, or a signature.

Stan Wawrinka shares beer with Tennis Australia boss to farewell Australian Open in wholesome moment

At 40, Stan Wawrinka had made an inspirational run to the third round of the Australian Open.

Considering the Swiss star's tenacity and determination, there would have been a self-belief within him that he could have toppled world No.9 Taylor Fritz.

But that doesn't mean he didn't come prepared to farewell Australia, bringing his own beers, which he shared with Tennis Australia chief executive Craig Tiley.

Wawrinka was beaten by Fritz 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 on John Cain Arena, which confirmed the end of his time in a tournament he'd previously won.

Australian qualifier Maddison Inglis is through to the fourth round at Melbourne Park after four-time major winner Naomi Osaka withdrew from the tournament.

Only hours before their scheduled match on Saturday night, two-time AO champion Osaka announced she was withdrawing because of a physical issue

"I've had to make the difficult decision to withdraw to address something my body needs attention for after my last match," the 28-year-old wrote on her Instagram story.

Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the Australian Open ahead of her third-round match against Maddison Inglis.

Osaka says she could not play through an abdominal injury she is carrying.

Inglis will play former world number one Iga Świątek in the fourth round.

Naomi Osaka has made a shock withdrawal from the Australian Open, handing Maddison Inglis her first appearance in the fourth round at a major.

Osaka was due to play Australian qualifier Inglis on Rod Laver Arena on Saturday evening.

But in the hours leading up to the match, Osaka announced she had pulled out of the tournament because of an abdominal injury.

They were gunning for an 11th series or tournament win in a row, which includes the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Asia Cup 2025.

India made two changes, giving rest to Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh. They brought in Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi, who last played for India in February 2025. It meant Axar Patel, who cut his index finger during the first T20I, continued to sit out. In the absence of a communication from the BCCI, it might be safe to assume it might be more preventive than forced.
