It’s the old dilemma of “would you rather?” – the choice between two difficult hypotheticals – which Carlos Alcaraz thought he had the answer for upon arriving in Australia, only for a curve ball to be thrown his way.

The top seed comes to Melbourne Park for Australian Open 2026 on the verge of history as he bids to complete the career Grand Slam this fortnight, a mission which begins on Sunday night against Australia’s Adam Walton.

Tennis: Adam Walton – It's a special occasion to be on court with Alcaraz

Challenges don't come much bigger than drawing world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the first round of the Australian Open. This is Australian Adam Walton's fate and he chats to Ned Hall about his excitement over taking to Rod Laver Arena in prime time.

The ending of ‘His & Hers’ explained: who is revealed to be the killer?

The twisty thriller series His & Hers is riding high on Netflix, but who is revealed to be the killer by the end of the season? Find out below.

The show landed on the streamer last week (January 8), with all six episodes available to watch now.

It is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Alice Feeney and it stars Tessa Thompson as news reporter Anna Andrews and Jon Bernthal as Detective Jack Harper, her estranged husband who works for the local sheriff’s office. As the couple investigate a murder in their hometown, suspicion and secrets emerge.

Lady Macbeth and Eileen director William Oldroyd has developed the show, while Dee Johnson, a veteran of shows including ER, Nashville, The Good Wife and Southland, serves as showrunner.

Limited series starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal as estranged spouses currently tops the streamer’s top 10

When it came to adapting Alice Feeney’s bestselling 2020 psychological thriller His & Hers for the screen, Netflix took a few creative liberties.

While mostly minor, the changes made to the six-episode limited series — starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal as estranged spouses who each suspect the other of murdering a woman from their complicated past — are still significant.

Jon Bernthal’s New Netflix Mystery Thriller Has 1 Unforgettable Twist That Only Works Because of Him

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for the finale of His & HersJon Bernthal has a habit of stealing just about every show that he appears in. Between winning an Emmy for The Bear, being involved in the only good seasons of The Walking Dead, giving a tour-de-force performance in the underrated miniseries We Own This City, and becoming the definitive screen depiction of Frank Castle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bernthal manages to make the most of any screen time that he is given, even if his roles are smaller.

Being cast as a troubled detective in the adaptation of the hit novel His & Hers seems like a role that fit Bernthal like a glove, especially when considering how many stern, authoritative anti-heroes he has played in the past. However, His & Hers is a much less straightforward mystery than it may seem, and the character of Jack Harper is by no means a stereotypical lead. Bernthal’s performance isn’t just essential to the unique approach of His & Hers, but helps it to hit on an even deeper emotional level.

Alcaraz chases history at Australian Open despite split while women’s draw is open

Sinner is the Spaniard’s clear rival but Swiatek, Rybakina, Bencic, Gauff and others are in Sabalenka’s way

Everyone wants to know exactly why Carlos Alcaraz split up with Juan Carlos Ferrero. It was, by some margin, one of the most surprising coaching separations in the history of tennis, a decision that came with no clear warning immediately after the greatest season of Alcaraz’s career. The discourse has since ranged from his alleged determination to reside exclusively at home in El Palmar, Murcia and train in his home academy, to potential discontent at Ferrero’s absences from numerous tournaments last year.

'A chapter of life' ends – Alcaraz on Ferrero split

Carlos Alcaraz won the French Open and US Open last year

Six-time major winner Carlos Alcaraz described his surprise split with long-time coach Juan Carlos Ferrero as a "chapter of life that has to end".

The world number one surprised tennis fans in December when he announced he had parted ways with Ferrero, who had coached him since he was 15 years old.

BBC Sport understands Ferrero did not want to leave his role, but Alcaraz said on Friday they "closed this chapter in mutual".

He explained: "We, as I said, both are still friends, good relationship. But we just decided like this.

    iPhone 18 Fold Revealed: Apple's $2,500 Foldable in 2026

Apple's iPhone 18 lineup promises to be a groundbreaking evolution in smartphone design, arriving with some of the most significant changes we've seen since the company first introduced the Dynamic Island. The complete series will feature six distinct models, according to MacRumors—the standard iPhone 18, budget-friendly iPhone 18e, ultra-thin iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the revolutionary iPhone 18 Fold.

Here's what makes Apple's approach fascinating: the staggered release strategy reflects a bold shift in how the company manages product launches. While the Pro models and that much-anticipated foldable device will debut in fall 2026, reports indicate the standard and Air variants won't arrive until spring 2027. This timing suggests Apple is prioritizing its highest-margin devices while ensuring each variant gets the supply chain resources and market attention it deserves—a strategic move that could reshape how we think about annual iPhone cycles.

Why The Cast Of Landman Looks So Familiar

In the years since "Yellowstone" conquered television, creator Taylor Sheridan's TV shows have spread across the airwaves … or at least, Paramount+. He's since developed shows like "Special Ops: Lioness," "Lawman: Bass Reeves," "Tulsa King," "Mayor of Kingstown," and a number of "Yellowstone" prequels. And then there's "Landman," a show about the oil fields of Texas. While that industry may have once been relegated to classic films like James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor's "Giant" or delightfully cheesy soaps like "Dallas," "Landman" takes the industry seriously as a place full of backstabbing criminals and a whole lot of money. It's still basically a soap opera, if we're being honest, but it's the dark and gritty kind, like Sheridan's fans have come to expect.

Inside Billy Bob Thornton & Sam Elliott's 'Dream Come True' Friendship

The 'Landman' stars met in the '80s and have been close ever since—here's their friendship story

Despite playing father and son on the hit Taylor Sheridan show Landman, actors Billy Bob Thornton and Sam Elliott are only 11 years apart in age. And if that wasn’t shocking enough, then prepare yourself, because their decades-long friendship is sure to be. To discover when the two met, how they’ve stayed close for so long and how they really feel about working together on Landman, keep scrolling!

Thornton and Elliott met back in the 1980s after a producer introduced them at a party. In a recent interview with We Live Entertainment, Thornton recalled this meeting, saying, “I don’t know for sure if the first time I ever met Sam, he even knew who the hell I was. I was just some little buck-tooth kid over at some party.”

Taylor Sheridan's Latest Series Is Harshly Dividing Audiences While Becoming Unstoppable Streaming Juggernaut

Taylor Sheridan has been a name everyone has become familiar with following a series of successful shows on Paramount, including Landman, which has divided critics and audiences following season 2.

Landman season 2 is reaching its final episode and is currently dominating the streaming charts, but the audience is not enjoying this season, and it’s reflected on the Rotten Tomatoes popcornmeter as it has a shocking rating of 40% based on over 500 ratings. Compared with the Tomatometer from established critics, which currently sits at 78%.

Sheridan’s series began in 2024 and is set in West Texas, following roughnecks and billionaires as they try to get rich quickly in the oil business. The series stars Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Carter, Michelle Randolph, Demi Moore, and Sam Elliott. Its first season didn’t divide critics and audiences as harshly as the scores sat at 78% for critics and 64% for its audience.

The Charlotte Hornets are retiring Dell Curry's No. 30 jersey in the home arena rafters March 19 against the Orlando Magic.

Curry, the 1994 Sixth Man of the Year for Charlotte, ranks second in career points scored (9,839) in Hornets history. Curry spent 10 of his 16 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-98) and currently serves as a Hornets team ambassador as well as television analyst.

"I never imagined it would happen," Curry said. "It means so much to me. I do it because it's what I love to do. The game gave me so much, the fans gave me so much and I want to stay involved just to give back what I can and make this organization what it should be and give the fans, the team and the broadcast and the show that it's fun, we're having a great time and come celebrate, come support. … Man, it would be an injustice to try to put into words what this means."

Stephen Curry celebrates 'dream come true' after retirement decision

Stephen Curry called it a “dream come true,” but the moment wasn’t about his own future on the court.

Instead, it was about honoring the man who laid the foundation for everything that followed, as the Charlotte Hornets prepare to retire Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey this March.

Speaking after the announcement, Stephen, who recently detailed the sad part of his life that NBA fans don't see, reflected on what the honor means for his family and for a city that has long been intertwined with the Curry name. “It is a dream come true for the whole Curry family,” the Warriors star said. “Curry and Charlotte are kind of synonymous, and ‘The Originator Dell Curry’ had a lot to do with that. So, blessed that 30 is gonna be immortalized in the rafters.”

Charlotte Hornets to retire Dell Curry’s No. 30 in March

Dell Curry’s jersey number will be enshrined in the Spectrum Center rafters.

The former Hornets guard turned broadcaster’s No. 30 will be officially retired on March 19, a decision the organization kept secret until releasing a video of the reveal. Curry’s reactions were authentic.

“I never expected it,” he said, “so, I just acted naturally. It means a lot. … Overwhelmed is a good word, but it is hard to put into words what this truly means. It’s not just a representation of me, but the fans, my family, my teammates and coaches. Everybody gets a piece of this.”

The 2026 Australian Open serves up the first of this year's top tennis action. While names such as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner dominate the men's side of the game, one name stands above all the competition in the women's game — Arnya Sabalenka.

Sabalenka has been an absolute machine on the court in recent years. She's a two-time Australian Open winner and won the French and US Open last year and reached the Wimbledon final. It's little wonder that the 27-year-old Belarusian enters this tournament as the No. 1 seed. She faces unseeded French youngster Rakotomanga Rajaonah in the first round. The must-watch opener is one of the biggest challenges of the youngster's career so far.

Australian Open Day 1 Women's Predictions Including Aryna Sabalenka vs Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah

The first Grand Slam of this year is here as 256 singles players have descended upon Melbourne to compete for the Australian Open title. Day 1 kicks off with 16 women’s matches, including Aryna Sabalenka vs Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah. Our other prediction articles feature Jasmine Paolini vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Emma Raducanu vs Mananchaya Sawangkaew, and Venus Williams vs Olga Danilovic. Offering their insights and predictions are Zain Mustafa, Ateet Shrivastava, and Ilemona Onekutu. But who will advance?

    Zain
When healthy, Vondrousova is one of a select few players with both the talent and the game to compete for the biggest prizes in tennis. But unfortunately, her last six months on tour have been riddled with injuries. Baptiste, on the other hand, is herself struggling for form, having lost her last five matches on tour. In a match-up between health and form, Vondrousova’s overall pedigree is too much for me to deny her a victory here.
    Prediction: Vondrousova in 2

Jasmine Paolini plans on enjoying the Melbourne sunshine after wasting no time in becoming the first women's big gun through to the Australian Open second round.

The seventh-seeded Italian needed just 69 minutes to see off Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-1 6-2 in the opening match of the tournament on Rod Laver Arena.

A two-time grand slam finalist in 2024, Paolini won all eight of her service games and broke her Belarusian opponent four times.

By the numbers: Paolini, Sakkari lead early Day 1 Australian Open winners

Jasmine Paolini and Maria Sakkari each cruised to victory on Day 1 of the Australian Open, both advancing to the second round in straight sets. Paolini dominated Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-1, 6-2, while Sakkari overcame a first-set deficit to defeat Leolia Jeanjean.

Two fan favorites were easy winners on Day 1 of the Australian Open, as No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini and former Top 10 player Maria Sakkari each punched their ticket through to the second round in straight sets with the loss of nine combined games.

Paolini never trailed in a 6-1, 6-2 win over qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich, while Sakkari rallied from a 4-1 first-set deficit to see off France's Leolia Jeanjean. After both players began their 2026 seasons by representing their respective countries at the United Cup, each will be hoping to better an all-time career-best result of a fourth round in Melbourne this year.
