After her beloved I’m A Celebrity show was axed, Julia Morris is a winner again

Proof that the world works in mysterious ways came on Friday night when just hours after news broke that she had lost her show with Channel Ten’s axing of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, Julia Morris was a winner at a charity gala in Melbourne.

OK, it was an $810 bedding package from Linen House that she won in a prize draw, but after Ten’s announcement that it had dumped the long-running reality show that Morris had helmed for 12 years, any win is worth celebrating.

“I lost my job today,” she responded from her seat when her name in the prize draw was called out by Channel Seven’s Rebecca Maddern, before jokingly putting it to guests: “Now, does anyone want to buy some linen?”

'Disappointing and regrettable': Crows remorseful as Sherrin with swear words kicked to young fan in crowd

Josh Rachele and the Adelaide Crows have found themselves in hot water after a ball kicked into the crowd by the AFL star was discovered to have an expletive written across it.

The Sherrin was claimed by a nine-year-old fan during the round eight Showdown against Port Adelaide. However, the child's grandfather was forced to quickly cover up the ball after noticing the phrase "f— the Power" was scrawled clearly on the leather.

That night, the Crows bested their local rivals in a tense Showdown game by a single point, 11.10 (76) to 11.9 (75).

At least 20 displaced after second-alarm apartment fire in central Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — At least 20 people are expected to be displaced Friday night after a large second-alarm fire sent heavy smoke into the sky in central Phoenix.

Around 6:45 p.m., Phoenix firefighters responded to ‘The Canvas’ apartment complex near West Ocotillo Road and North 27th Avenue.

Phoenix Fire Capt. DJ Lee said the fire initially started as a tree fire and spread to the complex.

Because of the size of the complex and how quickly the fire was growing, crews initially took a defensive strategy before eventually containing the fire.

No injuries were reported, and everyone was able to get out, Lee said.

Large fire near I-17 and Glendale Avenue leaves about 25 displaced from apartments

A fire broke out near a three-story apartment complex Friday night near Interstate 17 and Glendale Avenue and displaced about 25 residents.

All people impacted by the blaze got out of the building safely before Phoenix fire personnel arrived, as about 10 units were damaged.

The flames were reported as coming from a tree and extending over to the apartment, and crews arrived to the area around 6:45 p.m.

Crews were able to put out the fire with water hoses from their trucks, rather than having to engage it internally.
